Following a 4 game series split vs. Cleveland at home, the Orioles have traveled to Milwaukee to begin a 3 game series vs. the Brewers.  The series begins with an early 2:10pm start today here on Memorial Day.

Milwaukee is leading the NL Central, with a 30-21 overall record. At home, the Brewers are 14-10. (The O’s are 14-12 on the road.) For the year, Milwaukee has a positive Run Differential (+12). Over their last 10 games, Milwaukee is just 4-6 (which has coincided with a hot St. Louis Cardinals team eating into their Division lead).

(You can discuss this on the BSL Board here.)

Series Questions & Thoughts:

1) Two old ‘friends’ on the Brewers in Reynolds and Rodriguez. Rodriguez returned to Milwaukee in the off-season. This year he is 1-1, 1.80 era, with 17 saves. In 25 games, he has pitched 25 ip, allowing 16 hits, 2 hr’s, 4 bb’s, with 30 k’s.

2) Gomez and Braun are one of the most talented pairings of teammates in the Majors.

3) Tillman has had recent groin soreness, and command issues. Quite possibly related. His last two starts were as opposing as it gets. A shutout vs. the Royals, followed by a 1 inning outing vs. the Pirates. Tillman’s start today could go a long way in setting the tone for the series. His opponent today is Kyle Lohse, who enters the game at 6-1, with a 2.67 era. Lohse has thrown 67.1 innings on the year, allowing 58 hits, 7 homers, with 13 bb’s, and 54 k’s. The 35 year old Lohse has had a long career. For his career, 135-120, with a 4.30 era. Looking at the game log, and his walk total; he’s been very pitch efficient. He’s not going to overwhelm with stuff, but he’s going to utilize his experience. He’s going to consistently be around the plate, and encourage you to swing. The O’s will have to string together some at-bats.

4) Chris Davis will return tomorrow from paternity leave.

5) The O’s have struggled since Wieters went on the DL. Winning a road series against a Division leader would be a step in the right direction.
