Jones is becoming a confusing guy. He probably should start to think about what he says a lot more.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

My guess is that Jones realized the reporter was trolling for pathos, so he decided to give the guy the opposite of what he wanted.

Yeah. Probably. I'd probably say something similar actually. Non Issue.

But AJ is getting to be an enigma.

Here's an interesting stat I heard about Adam.  In 2014, he had 153 plate appearances where the count started 0-2.  He walked zero times.  For him to grind out a leadoff walk from 0-2 in the 9th inning of an elimination game against a shutdown closer (who, by the way, also gave up zero walks after an 0-2 count in 2014) was really impressive.

Has zero perspective and won't try to get better.  Once he gets a bit older he will regress big-time and since he's our "star" he probably won't want to move down the order.

Trade him.

It was an awesome season.  They won the AL East.  They overcame what should have been crippling injuries.  They swept the Tigers in the ALDS despite facing multiple Cy Young winners.  They made it to the ALCS, were competitive in every game, but came up short against a team that is absolutely on fire.  Tremendous season with a disappointing final 4 games.

Yeah. Given a day to drink/think about it, he was 100% correct.

It wasn't awesome. It's all about expectations. When you get to the point where only winning a title is awesome that's when you know you have the right players with the right mindset.

'12 was awesome.

Or that the people with those expectations are utterly misguided.

Absolutely not. You accept failure and grow, but you don't call it fucking awesome.

It isn't failure to get to the ALCS.

Ugh. Ultimately it is a failure and even if you don't take.that line it still wasn't a fucking awesome season if you had any expectations at all of winning the world title

Gotta agree with everyone that's saying this year was in retrospect awesome.  Sure, I wish we got past KC...but the playoffs are a crapshoot, that's what happened to this team this year.

Was it disappointing, sure, but it was f'ing awesome.  If I go to Vegas and I'm in apoker table at we're at the final 10 and I know I'm better than the other 9 guys there and I win $2 mill coming in 4th rather than $20 mill coming in 1st, I'd still say it was f'ing awesome.

Something can be a failure from many perspectives and still be awesome.  That's how I view this.

Looking at the video of him saying it, looks like he said it and made a face like "what do you want me to say?"

No no no. Horrible analogy. There is no consolation prize when only a championship will do.

Raise the bar people.

Did you even have the O's reaching the Playoffs?

If you did.. would you have, if you knew what was going to have happened with Machado, Wieters, Davis, and Jimenez?

Nobody is 'satisfied' that the O's didn't win their 4th title...   but that doesn't diminish what they did accomplish.

I think what most people want as fans, is a team and organization that is built to the point where you can be a perennial contender.

The O's have three straight winning seasons, and have reached the playoffs twice; but they aren't quite there yet in-terms of being built into a perennial contender.

We will see what they do from here to achieve that, and get over the hump in-terms of winning it all.

Come on man, we aren't the Yankees, Red Sox, Cardinals or some other team that has been a perrennial winner over the last decade.  Those teams it is WS or bust but for an Organization that has had 3 winning seasons in the past 17 then those expectations aren't as high.  Especially when nobody, including their fanbase, thought there was a snowballs chance in hell to make it to the ALCS.

Now that being said, the bar next year will be WS or bust because it was set that high with this years performance.
