Just curious as to what you guys think: Who was the MVP of the ALDS?

Has to be Cruz, right (with MIller a decent second, maybe)?

Cruz, Gausman, or Young.

Very different series going to Detroit tied at 1-1.

Lemme get two claps and a Ric Flair

Right... I'd probably give it to Cruz if I had to vote, but Gausman's performance out of the pen, and Young's double were both huge as well.

Miller.  By virtue of the fact that he was in an Oriole uni, not a Tigers uni.  Because that very nearly happened.

Gotta consider giving a little love to Britton, don't you?

He held the 1-run lead in Game 1 before we went nuts, held the 1-run lead in Game 2, and got the big DP to end the game yesterday.  I know he sort of made the mess himself, but still.  Good series for the closer.

Definitely Cruz, IMO.  Lots of strong performances and candidates, which is why we swept.  But Nelson's two HRs were huge, he had other big hits, and obviously produced the only runs on the board in the clinching game.

Great point.  For those who were upset about trading ERod, the return just came in.  Miller was a difference maker.

Cruz was the MVP but as has become the norm, with this team, the series was won because of the "team effort".

1. Cruz

2. Markakis (important part of winning games 1 and 2)
3a. Hardy (same as Markakis, but to a lesser degree)
3b. Norris (outstanding in game 3 when he absolutely needed to be outstanding)

3c. Young

I'm not suggesting he should be the ALDS MVP, but Flaherty made some outstanding defensive plays at critical moments.

This. And he wasn't complete crap at the plate. Had numerous good at bats. Even when he got out, I seem to remember him at least making the pitcher have to work for it. And man, that double play in game 2, I honestly don't know if Machado makes that play.

And Schoop had my favorite play ever when he sat on the runner diving back into 2B, picked up the ball with his bare hand, and tagged him out while sporting a guilty grin.

I really really hope someone got a GIF of that. I couldn't stop laughing.

I wouldn't be surprised if Flaherty was our 3B next year. We'd need a decent SS backup though if we put Machado there.

That's easy - WILLIAM NATHANIEL SHOWALTER. Every move that Buck made was questioned it seemed. And every move he made worked. Whether it was starting Norris yesterday, pinch hitting Delmon Friday, etc, he pushed all the right buttons. He out-maneuvered Ausmus at every turn. I think Ausmus is going to be a decent manager, however these are lessons he had to learn the hard way. Even I raised my eyebrows at putting the winning run on base yesterday, but I had seen Buck do it before so it didn't freak me out too much. I recognize that a manager can't get an MVP award, but hopefully the point is well taken.

Yup. Wouldn't mind us going after Asdrubal Cabrera (assuming his price is reasonable and it's a 1 or 2 year deal) and putting Cabrera at shortstop though. But if we don't do that, I wouldn't mind Flaherty at third base and Machado at short.
