Hopefully you can read that. My buddy is a long time resident and made up that list when I visited last February. Personally, I'd avoid bourbon st. Napoleon house for muffuletta and pimms cups. Dragos has oysters like cheese. Fantastic. There's also a restaurant on bourbon at the very end by canal that has buffalo oysters which blew my mind. Red fish grill. Gw Finns was maybe the best. Bacon oysters and a stellar piece of fish. Highly recommend.

http://m.yelp.com/bi...nge-new-orleans This place is a must.

IG will have more but ensure you see live music. Every night if you can.

Oh man the strip clubs. I had a girl try to get me to buy a lap dance by fellating me briefly. In front of everyone, including my ex wife.

Thanks man!

We'll definitely have to hit up some of those places. And yes, live music is going to be a priority.

Ha. She was outside smoking but I believe she saw walking back in. It wasn't an issue. She had a stripper pull her boob out in Jacksonvilles gold club after I got recalled into work to find some dudes who's boat capsized. Oh, weber, go to the French market and cafe du monde. It's touristy but worth the headache. And soak in the architecture. It's incredible. My favorite city by far.

I'll be there in November for the Ravens game. Can't wait. Impossible not to have a good time so don't sweat jamming too much in but definitely take the recommendations. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread as November approaches.
I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Don't you have to start these threads with "Teach me how to?"

Agree with the Cafe du Monde suggestion, it's 24/7 so go when you like.

Some food places would be Commander's Palace, Stanley's, the Gumbo Shop. Unfortunately Brennan's closed, else I'd recommend it for breakfast; Old Coffee Pot is good though. The Louisiana State Museum had a Katrina exhibit when I was there, hope it's still there. I'd do a swamp tour as well.

And yeah all that jazz at night.

Have fun!

I'm going next May for my bachelor party.  Can't freaking wait.  New Orleans has been the city I've most wanted to visit in the entire world for quite some time.

Well that's clearly going to be the focal point, that's why I want him to get on with it already!

Stay away from acme oysters. Its a tourist trap. I tried a few places by now, and Mr. Eds had the best. But not sure if the location near Decatur st is open yet. The said coming soon but when you look in the window it looks to be opening any day now. The location we ate at was a few minutes outside of downtown. Johnny PoBoys has great sandwiches and great French bread, which basically makes or breaks a sandwich.

At least walk thtough bourbon street just to say you have done it. At the one end is canal st. At the far other end is the oldest bar in operation in America. The name is escaping me now. Lafiets or something. Youll know it because there is not lighting. Just candles. Pretty cool

Take advantage of anyplace selling 2 for 1 beers from 10-4, if you dont mind the usual crap, bud miller etc... you can walk around with it anywhere. No open container laws. I think Abita and Nola are the local brews of you prefer something better.

Court of two sisters has the best brunch buffet ive ever had with the best grits youll ever eat. Live jazz playing as well.

If you like music, there is jazz playing at any number of places. Just walk by and walk in the place that appeals to you. Also, im a big fan of piano bars. Pat O'Brians is the best dueling piano bar there.

Theres the French market which is a lot like cross st market in Baltimore. Vendors and food. Cafe Du Monde has beingets which are kind of like deep fried fritters or doughnuts covered in more powdered sugar than is necessary. But its kind of a must for your sweet tooth if you have never been. Its in the corner of Jackson Square which is a must see as well. You can take a carrige ride that lasts about 45 minutes where they talk about the history of the city and some of the landmarks. I believe there is a museum in the square dedicated to Hurricane Katrina, but I didnt go in there.

Harrahs has a casino there as well.

Two words of advice, wear comfy shoes, you cant help but to walk around a lot. And take cash. Some places, more than usual for this day and age dont take cards.

If you do go to Bourbon, go to the bar that serves Shark Attack as a drink.  You get a giant Jaws-like shark with it that you can keep, and its a pretty good drink.  The bar Mike recommended at the end of Bourbon is a good time too.

The Garden District is beautiful too.  I'd walk around there.

Someone mentioned Commanders Palace. Great food, but pricy and they told me I needed a jacket for dinner.
