Funny you should mention that. I'm there as I type.

Lol no shit?

What did you think?

Edit: should have read more...what did you end up thinking? Did you have the Belgian Tripel?

I had one called Noir et Bleu, which I thought was quite good (have it a 3.75 out of 5 on Untappd. They had some really good sours, and good to really good IPAs.

Noir et Bleu is the one I was talking about. I really liked that.

I still have yet to have any of the sour beers.

I'm sure I'll disagree, but give me your top 3.

I actually had this cool idea of a thread for a Mt. Rushmore of MD Beers.  I've got 2 in my mind so far, still trying to come up with two more.

I was in Brooklyn over the weekend. Went to Grimm's and Interboro. Actually had a bunch of IPAs which I usually don't go for but they were delicious. Most were dry-hopped...so maybe that's my jam when it comes to IPA.

I posted this not long ago in the thread for my top 25 regional breweries to visit article:

Update on this series...

Just ranking the top 10 breweries on their beer alone:

1. Tired Hands
2. The Veil
3. Burley Oak
4. Stone
5. The Answer
6. Aslin
7. Dogfish Head
8. RAR
9. Triple Crossing
10. Goonda

So based on that...

Burley Oak

RAR

Goonda

But I know you like more boring beers than I do, so that's a big reason why we don't agree much on beer rankings. ;)

By boring you mean greater variety then sure!  That's the great thing about beer there's something for everyone.  My sister has gotten into craft beer in the past couple of years and it's been fun watching her discover new styles and beers that she likes.

Jokes aside, those breweries you mentioned are good but I think their staple (year round) beers aren't diverse enough to warrant being considered best brewery in the State.

I don't think it makes much sense to just focus on year round beers. I actually greatly prefer breweries that switch things up more. I have only had IPAs and stouts from Goonda, so you may be right about their diversity, bur the other two have a pretty wide offering of styles, and a lot of variety within a few of those styles.

Does Natty Boh qualify as a MD beer?  If so, that's got to be on the Mt Rushmore.  Maybe Brewer's Art Resurrection, too?  After that, it gets tricky.  Flying Dog Raging Bitch?  Heavy Seas Loose Cannon?  Something by Evolution or Union?

Also, if you're in the Lewes, DE area, be sure to check out Revelation Brewing, just outside of Rehoboth.

I would say no to Boh.

If the idea is to go with most iconic beers rather than best, I'd say the first 3 you mention plus Duckpin would be very strong candidates.

If we're doing Mt. Rushmore of iconic Maryland beers, I think I'd go:

Natty Boh

Flying Dog Raging Bitch
Heavy Seas Loose Cannon

Union Duckpin

I'd sub out Raging Bitch for Resurrection but that's just me. Resurrection was never named dropped on True Blood.

Wouldn't disagree with that choice. Mainly just came down to I think Flying Dog is more iconic than Brewer's Art, even though I'm a big fan of Resurrection.

Even if Natty Boh was made in MD, I'd say no to it, but with it not being made here, I don't even think it should even be considered.

I get that it's relatively popular (probably not one of the 4 most consumed beers in the state though), but I'd argue that the logo and merchandise are a bigger deal in MD than the actual beer.

Driving to Atlanta for the weekend. Going to stop in Charlotte on the way. I like to pick up a case or so of beers I can't get here when I go out of town. Anyone have good reccomendations for Carolina beers? I like all styles except gose.

Mother Earth Endless River Kolsch.

Had it in Asheville and loved it...I love Kolsch style beer...so whenever I know someone is going down to NC I ask them to bring me back some.

Should be able to find it at any decent beer store down there.
