Okay we all love beer, but I thought it would be a cool idea if we could get a thread going where we talk about beer we had with certain meals and whether we thought it went well with it or not.

I'll get things started last night I made a meat loaf (used turkey for this one instead of beef) for dinner and I had a New Belgium 1554 Black Ale.  I thought the Black Ale worked really well with the meat loaf,  I was happy with the pairing.

The Berger cookie chocolate stout goes good with chocolate...obviously.

For whatever reason I've never been a big beer paring guy...although I do love me some wine/food pairings.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

I feel like there are a greater variety of beer styles than wine styles so the possibilities are limitless.  Apetizers, Entrees, Desserts, any and all of these can be paired with beers.

Lots of times when I'm out to eat, if the place has a good stout on tap, that's good enough to be dessert on it's own for me.

Lemme get two claps and a Ric Flair

Definitely going to be paying attention to this thread for some pairings.

As much as I love beer, I've never gotten into beer and food pairings. I'm open to trying out some good combos though.

I'm not always blown away by beer and food pairings, but I tend to look for a certain generic aspect, like...if I'm gonna eat a really heavy burger and a plate of fries, I want something light like a lager or an easy-drinking saison. IPAs usually go well with spicy food, too, in my experience.

Oh, I drink beer with meals, I just don't put a ton of thought into which beer goes best with the meal.

Recently I was at Nacho Mama's and enjoyed a Loose Cannon with my Shrimp/Chorizo Quesadilla.

Delicious.

IPA and spicy are usually a good match.

I used to work at this liquor store and around the holidays, one of our vendors would always bring us shrimp/chorizo quesadillas from Nacho Mama's. Those things are so freaking good...

Okay I finally had a beer food pairing worth mentioning in this thread. Tonight I made turkey tacos/burritos for dinner tonight, I had a Founders dry hopped pale ale to go with my meal. Not as strong as an IPA, but more than enough bitterness to help contrast the tacos. The dry hops helped bring out the aroma in the beer as well.

About to check this out. A collaboration between a pizza place and one of my favorite breweries, Tired Hands.

People bag on Philly, but I'm at 30th st station having a St Bernardus Christmas ale. And they have pumking on tap and lots of other great beers. No city matches Philly for beer.

I thought Portland was supposed to be a beer capital.
