He's said he's done with adding/losing weight for movie roles. I don't blame him.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

That guy has to have gained and lost more weight than anyone. He lost a gross amount for The Machinist. Bulked up a little for Batman. Got fat for American Hustle. Back to normal. Fat for Vice, lost it for this.

Crazy.

A favorite of mine that he did, was when he was 13 yrs old. Steven Spielberg's Empire of the Sun...

The Wife and I saw Ford Vs. Ferrari last night.  Great fucking movie!  Great actors with interesting roles, a fun story (based on true events makes it even better) and not a CGI shot around.  Give me more movies like this please!!

I’m still trying to plow through the Irishman. I don’t think it’s very good

Probably because it's a foreign film.

It has a shot at being the first foreign film to win best picture at the Oscars.

Isn’t The Artist foreign?

It’s tremendous.

But Marriage Story is my new favorite for the year.

I think it’s really good, not great.

It’s the kind of movie that would do better on an HBO or FX where you could just put it on at any point and enjoy it on a scene by scene basis for repeat viewings. Less so on Netflix where you have to choose to watch a 3.5 hour movie from the beginning.

But great performances and directing. It’s what it is.

Parasite and Us are very similar imo. I'm going to watch the latter again to see which one I like more as my initial thinking is that it's close, but it's been a while since I saw Us. I know Us isn't as well reviewed, but I do think some of that is because it was the follow up to Get Out opposed to something that came out of nowhere to the American audience as Parasite did.

I'll be sure to check out Marriage Story. I heard Bill Simmons talking about it on his pod with Mallory Rubin, and they were saying, somewhat jokingly, that it may not be the best movie to watch with your significant other.

I watched it with my wife. We both loved it and agreed we never want to get divorced.

Btw I might like Us more than Get Out. Love them both.

I got up early and watched it before the Ravens game yesterday.

It was good, but didn't have most of the Scorsese tropes. Not a recognizable soundtrack. No quick cuts.

It was legendary movie stars telling a story. Though a far less interesting story then one like Good Fellas, Casino, The Departed, Wolf of Wall Street, etc... Probably impossible to make a story about union workers more interesting than those films.

Really liked how they made the actors look younger and then much older. Quietly tense throughout the climax.

Basically, I liked it, didn't mind the length. Could have cut off the last 20 minutes maybe. But lesser actors don't pull this movie off.

I think one of those will get moved. Doesn’t make sense to release them on same day.
