Pretty naive to think they just shut down the whole operation after '17. More plausible to believe they got more sophisticated.

I don’t think they’ll strip the title, but I’d understand if they did. This just keeps getting more-and-more insane.

FTR, the Stros starting pitching did dominate the Yankees in their wins in 2017.

There's other shots of him and Reddick showing much clearer tape randomly on the upper chest/shoulder with a middle crease.

But that GIF is still funny.

Buck's a very big "respect the integrity of the game" guy, so this would make sense given current circumstances.

As for analytics, Buck was a heavy user of the shift and an early adopter.

Buck also served on MLB rules committee, in his time here.  IMO, he has the ability and integrity that the Astro's need.

The Dodgers and Astros don't play this year, but the Astros are in Anaheim for the Angels' opener. So the Angels sold an 800-ticket block to a Dodgers fan organization for that game.

I guess I've come around to the thoughts of most of you.

I didn't like the steroid era, because it made it hard to believe what numbers were real and what were not.
I don't like that this episode means teams don't know if the Astros or Red Sox titles are legitimate.

Maybe just a very poorly timed joke, but the Astros are going to wear a target for awhile.

The problem in Verlander's case is that this wouldn't be the first time he's been vocally anti- something by an opponent, yet far less emphatic when it involves teammates.

Dusty Baker to the Astros.

Was rooting for Buck, but Dusty really is perfect for a veteran, championship caliber team. Dude just wins everywhere he goes, and veterans love playing for him.

Astros may have gotten scooped by their own hire. It sucks when you have information you want to keep to yourself but someone else figures out your plan, doesn't it?

Hiring Dusty Baker is an odd choice.

Hiring Dusty Baker is an odd choice.

Why?

He's always been a terrific manager.  He's got that reputation for blowing out young arms, and I think that is a deserved criticism, but the Astros don't have many young arms to ruin.

He's old.  So maybe the game has passed him by, that will happen eventually to everybody.  But that didn't seem to be a big problem with the Nats where he coached just a few years ago.
