Hard to see it any differently.

This ain't like Satchel Paige still trying to put on a show and make a buck...

No teams are more excited about than Texas/LAA/Oakland, their lives just got a bit easier for the foreseeable future!

It would be fun to be part of their FO right now, and I'm not being sarcastic.

I agree, you really have a chance to make your mark. It's as close to starting from scratch as you can get from a non-expansion/relocated team with a new owner, being in a new league, etc. Nowhere to go but up as they say.

ESPN: Bo Porter hired as Astros manager

http://espn.go.com/m...-astros-manager

Solid move for the Astros I believe. Nats fans didn't want to see him go and be the eventual replacement for DJ. I think this might mean that DJ could manage for another 2-3 years. At the same time, I think many in the org see Randy Knorr as the eventual replacement with all his minor league managing experience and being in the organization since the inception.

They're probably going to lose 110 games in what is widely considered the easiest division in baseball.

Next year they're moving to one of the toughest, if not the toughest.

They may very well break the record for most losses in a season next year.

In the video on the link, that's what they are saying, it's going to get worse before it gets better. This was a move for long-haul not to get better in 1-2 year span. Also mentioned in the video was Larry Bowa was interviewed but he wouldn't have been a good fit since patience was needed. I think the AL Central was weaker than the NL Central, but both are very weak.

Houston adds ex-Orioles manager Dave Trembley to Bo Porter's coaching staff. Possibly as a bench coach. Good for him. Glad to see him back in the majors. Didn't really think he was that great as a manager, but as a coach he might be helpful for this young ballclub.

Think he'll do better in this role as a coach and building a very young team. Always had a good reputation as a minor league anager.

I'm glad DT is back in the majors. I'm not sure what he would have done with a more talented team, but I don't think anyone can question the fact that he's a classy guy. Good for him.

Dave was a good soldier for the Orioles. He was basically put into a position where we were not going to be able to compete. He took what he was given and stayed as positive as possible.
He certainly is not Buck but I think he is a good baseball man and a good man period, so I am glad to see him back in the big leagues.
In his own way, he helped get some of the Orioles to be the players they are today.
