Seeing Lute Olson leaving early was something.

ESPNJabari Parker finalist for Naismith

Two seniors made the list: Creighton's Doug McDermott and Louisville's Russ Smith. Arizona junior guard Nick Johnson rounded out the finalists.

CBS SportsBillionaire Buffett: Bracket challenge will be easier next year

“Wait until next year though. I think we're going to come up with something better next year,” he said, noting that Quicken Loans president Dan Gilbert would need to sign off on the gamble as well. “We'll make it a lot easier to enter. There were some questions that were a little tough, I thought. We'll make it easier to win but I think we'll have an exciting prize.”

Awful AnnouncingCBS GOES OVERBOARD WITH CRYING KIDS ON SUNDAY

Crying Kansas Kid and Sad Wichita State girl became the stars of the production.  This was true especially in the first game, when a young Kansas fan got more airtime than Bill Self.  The kid wasn’t shown just once or twice.  No, CBS had a star on its hands.  The broadcast went back to him six times in the last minute of the game.  Six times!  If that isn’t overkill, I don’t know what would qualify.

Crowd shots are nothing new and finding emotional fans in the audience is one of the oldest tricks in the book from a TV production standpoint.  But this felt wrong. This felt exploitative.  As if every tear that fell was another ratings point in the eyes of the network.

My wife and I were watching the game. The first time, it was like, "Aww...that kid's passionate. That's pretty cool."

Then, when they had signs of life, we went, "Uh oh! The kid's tears are gone! It might end up good for him!"

...then it got into overkill mode.

I will say that, if Kansas had come back and won that game, not one soul would be criticizing filming that kid smiling and dancing...because they would, and it'd be great TV. But because he's crying, it's different? (And I know the answer is "yes", but...I dunno.)

I think the overkill thing is what bothered me the most.
