Heh, I liked the book better the first time, when Alan Sepinwall wrote it :P

Great read, thanks.

Not sure if this needs to be said or not, but significant spoilers within for anyone who hasn't yet watched the show.  And if you haven't, what the hell are you doing?  Go start it right now!

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

It's okay. I hear they have this great new invention for people like you. You might want to consider going out and getting one as soon as possible.

Right. That's the problem.

Right. That's the problem.

Obviously it is, since my comment was very clearly a joke.

I'm all set to read this book; it's on request at the library. I didn't even read the article itself because I want to read it in the book. In fact, thank you for bringing it to my attention in the first place.

My issue wasn't that you told a joke that went over my head ("I liked it better when" is a pretty tired form of "joke") but that your SOLE response to something I shared was a snarky one. There is a difference between being funny and being a smartass.

I am glad to have brought the book to your attention. I apologize for my own snark in response to yours.

OK, I get where you're coming from there. I should have mentioned my interest in the original post, so my apologies as well.

Also, for those who haven't seen it, Sepinwall's book has a bit of a wider look on the era. It looks at some network shows like Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Friday Night Lights in addition to the cable shows that have received so much acclaim.

The whole era of television we appear to be coming out of is very interesting to me.

This link will take you to The Wire section of the site: https://theringer.com/the-wire/home

It features an article on season 4, one on where the characters would be now, and a Where's Waldo style game called Where's Wallace.

If the art was a little better, the Where's Wallace graphic would make a hell of a poster.

Why am I so cheap about kindle books?  I wouldn't hesitate to spend $13 on a real book, even a used paperback copy if that's all that's available.  But for some reason I have the hardest time bringing myself to pay for kindle versions, despite the kindle being the only way I read books any more.  And it's basically no money at all, pack lunch one day instead of getting something from a food truck and we're even.  I waste way more money on way sillier things every week.  But nope, it still pains me to purchase with one click when I see that "big" $13 price tag.  Stupid brain.  It's so annoying sometimes.
