The Mets are the only other team whose Organizational dysfunction rivals the Orioles.

Showalter has proven he can separate the team (from above) in that type of environment and Brodie is a win now guy whose proven to have more execution chops than DD ever did.

Mets have a lot of good pieces.  If I'm them, I'd put Showalter and Adam Jones at the top of my list.

Beltran rep with young players is outstanding.

He is such an idol to many international players.

Mets' and Cespedes agree to rework his 2020 contract based on (apparently) something that he did after surgery on his heels where he messed up his ankle on his ranch.

Appears the Mets stopped paying him some time ago and they agreed to rework his contract in lieu of a grievance.

I thought Betances would stay with the Yankees.  He got a real good deal for a guy who appeared in 1 game last year.

Thoughts on whether Beltran gets fired or not?

I say yes.

I think he's out, but he'll "quit" vs being fired...kinda like with Cora. If the team preemptively does it, it helps them save face, like they are mortified...but lets be honest...they all knew when they hired these guys. People talk, and it's common knowledge inside the game. They just tried to stretch the rules of "keep it in the clubhouse" a little too far, and someone blew the whistle. Unwritten rules and written rules that are ignored are two different beasts.

Educated guess. Everyone has been pointing to him as being involved, and with Cora there had to be proof out there so bad that there was just no way out for him to go out that quick and quiet. With Beltran being mentioned the same, I'm guessing the same applies to him.

I don't know that him getting out in front of it saves any face, but if it comes to releasing whatever proof they have, things will be much more severe.

Basically, do I let them come down on me for the allegations BEFORE they look more into it and dig up stuff, or do I bow out now, take it on the chin and hope that they don't keep looking too hard afterwards?

You missed the joke.  Rosenthal reported (and Nigel posted) he was resigning 5 minutes before your post :)
