Twins to sign Kendry Morales.

Didn't see that coming

If they don't get into contention, they can trade him in 4-6 weeks...for a few million dollars, they may have just bought themselves the equivalent to a late first/early second round pick if Morales is able to perform.

Very cool moment last night. They brought up this kid from A ball for a defensive start. Ends up hitting a 2 run triple in his first major league AB.

Chuck Knoblauch arrested, accused of assaulting ex-wife

The Twins were supposed to induct him in the team hall of fame this weekend. Apparently, they've already canceled the induction.

Byron Buxton, in his first Double-A game tonight, was involved in a collision with another outfielder and knocked unconscious. He left in an ambulance and is in the hospital with a concussion.

That really sucks.  I have a soft spot in my heart for the Twinkies -- they have a real nice stadium and city and the people there are so nice.

I hear Trout comparisons to Buxton...hope he's OK.

That's a joke. That team actually played better toward the end of the season, and if you are the kind of person who believes that a manager can have that kind of an impact then getting a dead team to keep playing (and go 6-7 against Cleveland and Detroit over the last three weeks) ought to mean something.

I bet both Texas and Houston go hard after him (he's an Okie boy who went to JC in Texas, and later UT).

Suddenly the best available manager this offseason has entered the market. Dumb move.

I'm sure Gardenhire was the problem.

Meh. 13 years is a long time. I don't doubt hes a good manager, but sometimes you need a change.

Agreed here. It's probably time for some new blood. The Twins have had two managers over 30 years and from the same line. They got rid of coaches in the past, at some point you have to change the common denominator.

I was reading somewhere that he was only the 4th or 5th manager to have four consecutive 90-loss seasons. He hadn't won a playoff game since 2004.

Just because he's a great manager, that doesn't mean he should continue in perpetuity. 99% of the time, these guys don't leave on good/their own terms, most don't have Bobby Cox type sendoffs.

I just don't get what the Twins are thinking with the guys they've signed the last 2 years.  I get that they have to overpay to get people to come there, but they are really over-paying for mediocrity.

Got crushed pretty good with their signing of Hughes, but that worked out.

They had all those soft-tossing strike throwers for years. I think they are overpaying for innings and stronger arms to get back some respectability. Also believing that their larger ball park helps with those investments.

Definitely still not close to contending though, even in the Central.  Offense needs multiple bats.

Phil Hughes signs a three-year extension with the Twins

He's now signed through 2019. Plus, he gets raises for 2015-16, already under contract.
