Probably not done done. But it has to get to a point where he isnt exempt for tournaments anymore, or by not playing for so long, would he risk losing his tour card? Im not sure. I would have to look it up. I cant think he would miss yet another year, and another, and another since this seems like a trend, and still be able to just come and play on his own terms. The fact that hes "Tiger Woods" should allow him to play be different rules.

Then agian hes won so many majors he could be exempt for life.

Oh you can stick a fork in him. I agree with KVV:

“@KVanValkenburg: Faldo is nervous about all the people standing in the shank danger zone following Tiger and it's not hyperbole. He's right"

“@KVanValkenburg: I think we need to mentally prep for the ugly reality that it's over for Tiger. No today, but forever. Sad that's not a hot take.”

Could see him get healthy at some point and win 1 or 2 more Majors, but it's hard to imagine him ever again becoming a consistent force week-in, week-out.

OTOH, maybe that is a bit of hyperbole... guess it was just 2-3 years ago where he had a pretty strong year.

Before the news today, saw Phil state, "I think that Tiger's going to have the last laugh. I think that his short game historically, is one of the best of all time. I think his golf game is probably the best of all time. I think the short game, when you haven't played, it's the first thing to feel uncomfortable and the quickest thing to get back. I don't think he's going to ahve any problems, I really don't. I think we all - myself included - have had stretches where we feel a little uncomfortable. We don't hit it solid, and usually it's just a small tweak, because it's such a short swing that it's not a hard thing to fix."

Yea, he was POY in 2013 when he won a bunch of tourneys.

I don't think he's done if he can get healthy....but can he get healthy?

Yes he's done and it sucks.

I don't even think it was likely about the back. His game is embarrassingly bad right now. Said last week the back was fine.

He was out chipping during the practice rounds with amateurs yesterday. While they were putting he was chipping. As KVV alluded to in n his post. There should be general concern about a shank zone and a spectator getting drilled.

He needs to be able to break 77 consistently on these relatively easy courses . Now, there is no doubt a lot of its mental but the skills have eroded too.

I wasn't trying to lessen the severity of the back issues but I really believe he would still he playing this week if his skills weren't a complete mess right now.

BTW...karma is a bitch.Tiger deserves all this embarrassment.

He was only 2 over on the tougher of the 2 courses. He's not going to make up an injury.

Now..he may not fight through it as much as he normally would if he isn't playing well but after the surgery last year, he talked about how he wasn't going to be stupid anymore with his back.

I stick by my assertion. If his game was tight right now he'd still be out there. That's not to say that the back was feeling terrific and he just decided to quit. It'll rarely ever feel terrific at this point.

Right...He said the back tightened up and never loosened.

If he was shooting 3 under, does he fight through it? I would say he might.

But, he made the decision to not push it. Remember, he is also making swing changes. It may not be smart for him to try changes if his back is hurting.

Stands to reason that if he was playing well, the back wouldn't be acting up.

No way he wants out of Torrey Pines, where he has won 8 times.

Doesn't sound like "indefinite" means "really long".  A matter of weeks, not months or longer.

“I am committed to getting back to the pinnacle of my game,” he said. “I’d like to play the Honda Classic – it’s a tournament in my hometown and it’s important to me – but I won’t be there unless my game is tournament ready. That’s not fair to anyone. I do, however, expect to be back playing again very soon.”

Dude put his body through way too much through his early 30s. The 30 for 30 doc , tell all book, movie, etc is going to be very interesting stuff.

I would expect him to be at Bay Hill and The Masters but that's not that far away.

Gotta think he plays The Masters.

Ill bet he doesn't play the Masters.

The more I think about it he might give it a go. The Masters is clearly the Major he has the best shot at winning again. I wouldn't expect him to contend this year if he tries it, but he might be able to convince himself. Bottom line is he's not going to go out there and shoot 75s and 76s and miss cuts. His ego won't let him do that. I just dont think things will be that easy to fix anymore. He needs to put time into his game. The problem is his body wont let him put the time necessary in anymore. Double edge sword.
