Very happy to see him come back, but I wonder how much is tied to his hosting this event.

Would hate to see him get hurt again and miss the last 2 majors in 2014.

I highly doubt he breaks the record now.

Probably somewhat, but I doubt he's risking it if he's not healthy. He's missed this event in the past.

yeah, but it struck me as really odd how I heard big time golf writers predicting he would miss the entire season just before the US Open....and now he's back.

I think a lot. Heard ticket sales were very low and if hes just going out and shaking the rust off, thats enough to get more people out there. Also heard the U.S. Open had is lowest ratings in a long time.

My brother and I were talking about that this weekend in terms of restaurants. The thing is you aren't usually saving that much in many cases. Take a $10 for $20 deal for example -- you have to spend $10, then you get taxed, then throw in tip. You end up saving $3-4. That's usually a good case scenario too.

Yeah. Sometimes with services you can find a deal. I got something like 4 oil changes for $50 once. Even after tax it ended up like buy 2 get 2 free.

Which should have been expected. The only thing that mattered was him swinging and feeling good and having no ill effects from the surgery...to our knowledge, that was the case.

Tiger jarred his back today and had to WD.

Wonder what this means for the PGA?

What do you think he did? Just too much weight lifting and swinging of the club?

Other than possibly the overtraining, he also was a practice nut. He was out working at the range before everyone and long after everyone. His golf swing was very violent and induced stress on the body. That's possibly playing a part as well. He may have simply put too many swings on his body.

Well, whatever the reason, sadly, his reign is OVER. he's a shell of his former self out there.

Absolutely a shell.

The question now isn't will he beat Jack. The odds of that are extremely low. The question is, will he win even one more Major.

I still think he wins one, maybe not even for another 2-3 years, but he'll win one. No chance at Jack anymore. And him winning one more is becoming more and more of a longshot at this point.

I lean to this point of view... but Couples and Watson have shown guys older than him can hang around Majors. If Tiger can really recover physically, he should have more opportunities to win 1 or 2 more Majors.  After all, he was good last year (not his former self) but winning tournaments, and ranked #1.

Where I really agree with you though, is that I think the chase of Jack is over. I could see him putting things together once or twice...  matching Jack? I don't see it.

This latest set-back comes just weeks after Tiger said he felt his best in years. The back could flare at any time.

I think Tiger is going to have to show he can play through 4 rounds, in week-after-week before you really can have confidence of him putting together any type of a run.

If you are a Tiger fan, I think what should be concerning is that for the past couple of years he keeps telling you that physically, and mentally he is close... and then the results show otherwise.
