Here's the entire article.  Apparently another important part of the plan was to buy two more houses (in addition to the free one) and rent those out, too.  So maybe you should try that, Mike.  Or maybe just buy three or four more houses, and that way you can pay off the loans even faster.

I might as well buy really big houses so I can charge more rent too. Pay them off even faster

That's a good Idea.  I'd recommend buying Palmer's condo and Weddle's house as part of your empire.  Too bad Ripken / Jones's house is off the market.

I think I see what the article is trying to say: even if you are in debt that deep, there are ways to increase your "net" income without increasing your workload beyond the breaking point by lowering your cost-of-living, looking for investment opportunities, etc. It's just a really shitty example.

The sad part is that there are many current members of the executive branch of the federal government who would happily jump on this as an example of "SEE! Student loan debt is NOT a problem! Suck it up!" Mostly because they have had similar life experiences that gave them that askew view of the world.

Exactly. Like when they said you can afford health insurance if you don’t buy the new iPhone every year.

They just don’t get it.

Agree to an extent, but it's at-least partially situation dependent.  Liked a couple of the replies.

I agree with his general point. He is 100% right about the mindset of the younger generations.

That being said, he also wants to come across as an advocate for a lot of things. He always has to speak out against Trump for saying things he feels are over the top and now he is talking about crushing kids in sports. Seems a bit hypocritical to me in some ways.

Meh. "Older generation thinks younger generation is weak" is as close to a constant as you can get in terms of human thought through the ages.

Yawn

And for the most part, that statement is true.

Yea I’m not getting into this discussion with you or anyone else on here.

Besides, having a back and forth with you is about as enjoyable as a root canal.

Cruising through Panama or even the C&D can be quite nice.

To be fair I had two root canals a year or so ago and it was largely painless. Medicine has come a long way

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty
