Eddie was the best clutch hitter the Orioles ever had.

I recall reading that Eddie is one of the few guys who's entire career stats reflect that he was actually significantly, meaningfully better in the clutch.

 

I've said in the past that with very few exceptions I don't believe in clutch hitters, just clutch hits.  Eddie was always one of those exceptions in my mind.

Good post.  There are certain players in every sport that seem to step up consistently when the lights were bright.  Eddie was IMO, certainly one of them.
