My EDC boner is massive. He might be the best exec in football.

$21 million guaranteed on that deal. I don't love it...

But perhaps they are happy with Ward, Judon, Ferguson, Bowser on the outside next year.

The amount of guarantees here all but assures that Carr is not on the cap at his current deal come tomorrow.

Quick napkin math but his cap his next year would be around 7.6 mil or so. Guessing based on 20 signing bonus and 1 mil base this year.

Yeah, they must really love Brockers. These short-term high guaranteed deals though are obviously showing them trying to put a core together now, make a couple of title runs and then reset things when Lamar needs the big deal.

4 positions in the secondary? I mean three at best. And really when Humphrey moved inside that went down to 2. I guess if you count LCB and RCB differently.

I'm just not as high on Carr's value as you are, though...

He played outside CB, Slot CB, FS and SS

Brockers signing is a strange one. I just don't see the value in signing him to a contract that big. He's a good/versatile DT. I don't think he is worth anything close to $10M/year

Like I said, he had very reduced Slot time after Marlon moved there and Marlon can move there again now. And I disagree on him playing SS. He might have played as the third safety in some settings, but I don't think he took a single snap at S where Clark or Jefferson wasn't on the field.

His flexiblity between FS and CB is valuable but I don't think at his age he brings you very much value at SS or NCB anymore.

Agreed, and it feels like $10 is something close to what Pierce would have gotten.

They must really love him because this just about wraps up the NFL FA period for the Ravens unless they trade or un-tag Judon.

He changed positions as the Ravens needed him to change positions which is why he played everywhere. Clark/Jefferson didn't come off the field, but the Ravens dime package once they traded for Peters was Smith/Peters/Humphrey at CB with Thomas/Clark/Carr at safety.

The safety positions were in a lot of ways interchangeable, but Carr lined up a lot in a traditional SS position with Clark playing more a LB role.

PFF gave Brockers a high grade in 2020. Will play most of next season at age 29.

They must think Pierce is going to get well north of that money because it's really a head-scratcher to give that much money to Brockers.

I do think he is a good player, but it seems like an odd signing especially considering how they have used defensive lineman recently. Maybe they want to change things up on defense.

Almost 10M in dead money but you do save 4.3M by cutting him. Don’t think they do but if they feel he’s declining fast, they could.

Btw, I think this also tells you the same thing many of us thought..that the run defense wasn’t as good as the stats said it was.

That's a lot of dead money if they cut him...

I'm also wondering where this money for Brockers is coming from unless they are planning on trading Judon or doing several restructures.

I just see no way they pay Judon that money next year.
