DeAndre Hopkins traded to the Cardinals for David Johnson. Picks involved.
Sooner or later someone is going to figure out O'Brien is the problem. Trades anyone he's got even a slight tiff with. Coaches gotta get more thick skinned and realize their job security is better with talented players. $$$ played in too, but still seems like they ship out a good player every year that is on the outs with the coach.

It's not that bad of a move for the Texans if its known that Hopkins wants a new deal. He just locked up the third year of a six year deal and all of the guaranteed money was 2017-2019. He is now locked at 12.5m per and change the next three years, wants to surpass Cooper's contract that should be north of 20m per season.
So let's say he wants 22m per season. You can only have 6-7 top contracts in this marketplace when your QB is about to reset the dynamics of the overall team cap covering 20-25% of it.
They get a dual option RB out of the deal and 2nd round pick. They have two more WRs with talent and another one that could not get on the field, but showed flashes when on it. They have a chance to add a cheap WR in the draft and restock around what might be a tight cap shortly.

Wow, I would echo that sentiment. What are the Texans doing? Johnson fills a need at RB, but Hopkins was a premier #1 receiver. With Brown out of the league there aren't a lot of WRs ranked in front of him.

You can't just unload a guy that talented (unless they've got AB drama). O'Brien gets away with murder there. What does he have on the owner?
"You can't sit on a lead and run a few plays into the line and just kill the clock. You've got to throw the ball over the damn plate and give the other man his chance. That's why baseball is the greatest game of them all." ~ The Earl of Baltimore

The Texans IMO, keep a very mediocre head coach, and that may being kind, and dump a top 3 wideout.

At least Houston did this!:
Bill O'Brien is operating like that guy in your fantasy league that you wish you reached out to him earlier because he's going to make some stupid moves with others.
