I keep reading that they want 8 candidates for the rotation.

I think there is a large difference between qualified candidates and names.

Right now the Orioles have John Means and a bunch of names.

Don't forget about Cobb!

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

He was good the 2nd half of '18.  Sure hope he's at-least usable.

Don't forget about Cobb!

I was going to put this somewhere else, but might as well throw it in here.

The interesting thing about the absurd market this year is it makes guys who were utterly unreasonable (in terms of salary) seem more reasonable.

Cobb certainly has talent and has been derailed by a number of things.  But if he proves healthy this season and pitches to an effectiveness in line with his talent, getting rid of him will be easier than it would have been, say last year.

He has 40M tied to him right now...20M in 2020-2021 and 20M deferred.

Would a team that needs a decent starter just take the deferred money?

Clearing the books isn't really a thing for me, but if it was, I'd package another pitcher into the deal (upper depth you have to make decisions on).

The Twins were a good option...they just gave Homer Bailey 7M+ for this season.  Signed Hill too.

Maybe you have to wait 2-3 months, but there will be a deal in there somewhere.

Don't forget about Cobb!

I won't if he is actually able to pitch.

I can't open the article, but its....

Cobb

Means

Wojo

Bailey

Stewart

This is nothing but trying to survive this season and keep Wilkerson's innings under 40.

Outside of Means, none of these guys are getting opportunity over the guys coming in behind them (Kremer, Akin, Lowther this year and GRod, Hall in 2022)....they can't really develop any value short of doing what Means did and even he could lose perception of value quickly if things don't go well.

I think we see someone, like Cashner and, or Buchholz signed on the cheap.   I just do not see how we get through, with what we have now.

I get that we will once again, lose big, but you still have to manage your way through the season.
