This thread isn't intended to be a discussion of the quality of the roster or opportunity or rebuilding or what I'd do or any of that.

This is just intended as a Baseline tool for where the 2020 roster sits and we can update it throughout the offseason as things change or are finalized (like Arbitration #s, trade, non-tenders, whatever)

If there's some wild disagreement about a player or potential salary, I can change anything.

I'll present it similarly to how Hyde has been aligning the roster and obviously that would be subject to change.

In several cases, we could certainly switch a name out in the bullpen, but the cost implications for the 26-man (+1 next year) would remain similar.  I'll have to do options later (or if someone else wants to do it).

For purposes of this, I'm putting all TC1 and TC2 at 600k and TC3 at 750k.

Service: 0.+ = TC1, 1.+ = TC2, 2.+ = TC3, 3.+ ARB1, 4.+ ARB2, 5.+ = ARB3, Xyears/yzM = contract

-----------------------

Lineup

2B Alberto (1.65M+, ARB1)

DH Mancini (4.75M, ARB1)

LF Santander (0.75M, TC3)

3B Nunez (0.6M, TC2)

CF Hays (0.6M, TC1)

1B Davis (17M, 3/51+42M deferred)

C  Severino (0.75M, TC3)

RF Smith (0.6M, TC2)

SS Iglesias (2.5M, 2021 option)

Bench

C  Sisco (0.6M, TC2)

OF Wilkerson ( 0.6 TC2)

IF Ruiz (0.6M, TC2)

IF Urena (0.6M, TC1)

Starters

1. Cobb (9.5M, 2/20+20M deferred)

2. Means (0.6M, TC2)

3. Wojciechowski (0.75M, TC3)

4. Bailey (0.6M, TC1) - Rule 5

5. Kohl Stewart (0.6, TC1)

Bullpen

CL  Givens (3.225M, ARB2)

RH Harvey (0.6M, TC1)

RH Castro (1.05M, ARB1)

RH Armstrong (0.6M, TC2)

RH Rucker (0.6M, TC1) - Rule 5

LH Bleier (.915M, ARB1)

LH Fry (0.6M, TC2)

LH TanScott (0.6M, TC1)

TOTAL SALARY FOR 26-MAN = ~51.7M

Does not include

Previously deferred money = 10.875M (see post below)

Rest of 40-man roster = 8+M (common to all teams)

Estimated player benefits = 15M (common to all teams)

Other bullpen arms: Brooks, Hess, Phillips, Tate, Carroll, Kline

AAA

RF Diaz

1B Mountcastle

SP Akin

SP Lowther

SP Zimmerman

SP Kremer

SS Martin

OF Stewart

Edit: Nov 27 (remove Villar)

Edit: Dec 3 (Bleier, .915M)

Edit: Dec 5 (remove Bundy)

Edit: Jan 6 (add Iglesias, 2.5+M, add Rule 5s Bailey and Rucker, add Kohl Stweart)

Edit: Jan 9 (Castro, 1.05M)

Edit: Jan 11 (Mancini, 4.75M; Givens 3.225M; Alberto, 1.65M, Urena vs Valaika)

MLBTR posted their arbitration projections, listed here.

Jonathan Villar  -$10.4M signed for 8.2M

Mychal Givens – $3.2M signed for 3.225M

Dylan Bundy – $5.7M signed for 5M

Hanser Alberto – $1.9M signed for 1.65M

Miguel Castro – $1.2M  signed for 1.05M

Richard Bleier – $1.1M  signed for .915M

Trey Mancini – $5.7M signed for 4.75M

Using those number you'd add 4.7M to the above total. So about 66M

....and it's still annoying they hold onto the "MM".

COT's recently updated Player Service through the 2019 season.

Small notes but it looks like

Renato Nunez at 1.167

Anthony Santander at 1.162

Asher Wojciechowski at 1.156

would all qualify as Super 2 after the 2020 season (assuming a full year of service)

2018 cutoff was 2.134 and the most it ever has been was 2.146 in 2011. Super 2 cutoffs link on MLBTR

If you're not accounting for deferred money debts being added (ex: counting Davis as $17M actually paid rather than $23M being earned), which is a reasonable approach, what about old deferred money obligations that are now due?

This year I think O'Day will be paid $1M, Trumbo gets $1.5M, Cashner gets $1.5M, Jimenez gets $2.25M and Hardy gets something slightly over $2M. Not sure of any others that may be owed.

You are absolutely correct. I'll add a line in the lead post. Thanks.

Here's what I'll try and if anyone has additional info, we'll update it here and I'll just reflect the total number up in the lead post.

From what I've gathered (I'm not worried about date of payout, just raw accumulation in year paid)

2020: 10.875 from Gallardo (1.625), Hardy (3.5), Trumbo (1.5), ODay (1.0), Cashner (1.0), Jiminez (2.25)

2021: 5.75 from Trumbo (1.5), ODay (1.0), Cashner (1.0), Jiminez (2.25)

2022: 4.5 from Trumbo (1.5), Cashner (1.0), Cobb (2.0)

Cobb: 1.8M per 2023-2032
Davis: 3.5M per 2023-2032 and 1.4M per 2033-2037

Removed Bundy following trade to ANA.

I really don't know who to add in the rotation.  It doesn't appear they have a name they'll use.  I assume they'll add the last FA that needs to pitch, one of the non-tender types or maybe a Rule 5 add.

Update: Miguel Castro signs 1.05M contract

I'm guessing they'll knock out the other 3 here shortly.
