But I would guess that the "final roster" will change before the first game.

Once we see who gets cut, who is available for trade, etc...

Are there any candidates for IR designated to return this year? Because that is another position that you have to carry on the initial 53 before IR.

I mean they are playing it pretty close to the vest as they do with all injuries. But if he passes on the surgery, seems like a very likely IR to return type designation.

It is actually two players who can return.

I found this.

Players must remain on IR for eight weeks before being eligible to rejoin their teams in Week 9 via the IR-Return Designation. The NFL changed the IR-return designation in 2017 so that teams are allowed to bring two players back from IR. Previously, the rule allowed just one player to return from the list.

Also the player does not have to be designated any longer.  It can be anyone placed on the IR.

Last year, the NFL changed the IR with return designation so that you no longer have to designate the player who will get the designation at the time they are placed on the list. Now, teams can bring back any two players they've placed on IR at any time after the eight week mandate to be on the list has been met.

Obviously Young is a candidate if he is cleared and Roberts would be insurance in case wide outs get hurt.

I think we keep 6 wide outs though.
