They've never revealed how much of a scale factor the playing time is to the APY rank.  There has to be a lower bound limit on it, because it's obviously not zero (if a guy misses the whole season, they still count in the math).  Overthecap's projected cutoff for 3rd/4th is the 96th highest ranked player.  CJ is really high up on the APY list with a $17M baseline.  Looking at the projections, I think h'ed have to count for under $11M APY after the playing adjustment to slide down to a 4th round pick. So if the lower bound is 66% or lower, then he could be in danger of falling to a 4th.

I guess then Foles may drop down also. Except for the higher salary.

I wonder if this takes out scrambles?

Regardless, due to total volume of rushes, this stat is still incredibly high.

They would've needed a cap move to fit the salary. All the forum boards would have lit up if it was Brandon Williams.

The Jets ate a large majority of his contract.

Giants gave up a 3rd and a 5th for a half season rental, Ravens would have had to beat that offer in theory which would mean a 2nd round pick. Seems like a lot to give up for a player that has somewhat disappointing?

Snead extended...

I don't assume this opens up any cap space this year does it?

I think it will lower his cap number, likely the main reason why they did it.

You only make the deal if you feel you can extend him, which you would presumably know before the trade.

It's too much to give up regardless

I can't imagine this deal not converting all of his remaining salary (above the minimum) to bonus.

From what I've read, the deal frees up about $2 million this year, although that's not official.

The timing of this extension clearly suggested the moving of money for another pending deal. Otherwise it doesn't make a lot of sense, since Snead has basically become the fourth option on a run-first team.

The Ravens are trying to deal. No doubt about it.

Ravens defense has greatly improved while the offense has regressed

Some talk Jamal Adams could be dealt.

Would you trade a 1st and more for him?

I would not, I think we've got enough committed to our secondary currently if we are strongly considering extending Peters (which I would strongly consider).  That said, I've got no real idea exactly how good he is.  I don't think I've watched a Jets game since he was drafted.

If he's the best strong safety in the league and we're not gonna resign Peters, then it could make sense.

I probably wouldn't be willing to pay the amount that the Jets are going to want for Adams. I also think the combo of Clark/Elliot is pretty good next to ET the next  couple years.
