Build the O-Line.

Draft well.

Save some $, and use it to invest in the next waive of guys internally.

Sure would have been nice if you had got production out of Williams and Bowser the last two years.  Talk about available opportunity for both in Y3.

See I'm not the only one. Nothing's wrong with making a splash when the timing's right. This might be the time.

They might do it...but to say they have to is what is wrong.

I am not a huge Stanley fan but he is good and will just keep getting more and more expensive.  Get him signed.

Brian is saying if Smith eclipses 11M per year, he should be a 3rd round comp pick.

Maybe not with some of the money being handed out.

If they don't want to mess with the comps look at the released players.

You're mincing words.

LaCanfora:

Za'Darius Smith's deal with the Packers will come in over $16M a year. No way the Ravens were going to devote $33M a year to keeping him and Mosley at this point.

The cap is more favorable moving forward. I have a suspicion we're in on Bell or Thomas.

The Thomas market is evaporating some. Of speculated teams left it's Dallas and the Niners. And if Dallas was gonna bite I think they'd have signed early. Could actually be some value there. Some rumors were saying SD.

HHCD and where he goes could be the next signal. Not a lot of seats left at the safety dance.

They have to spend and make a big splash now because a lot of holes are gonna be filled cheaply through the draft. They might as well sign Bell now.

No I'm not.

The rest of your post is meaningless.  You don't HAVE to be stupid because you can be cheaper in other areas.  You can still make smart moves.  Stupidity is never something you HAVE to do.  You may be able to justify it more but its not a need.

Dumb contract...and he will be a third round comp pick.  That's 2.  Suggs can only be a 5th rounder, at best.

Not saying it will happen just intriguing that he's still on the board. No WOW offer for Thomas, apparently.

Preston Smith, Roger Saffold are two guys I'd be looking at right now, too.

Last thought, this legal tampering period is dumb. Just open the season...when 85% of the top of the market sign before it's official, what's the point?

I don't get this either.   Would like to know the rationale.

It doesn't have to be a stupid move. When you lose a ton of free agents it opens the books up to make a splash move. The smart teams choose their moments but of course you don't go after the wrong player or wrong fit.

BTW, there was some talk of extending Judon.

He is obviously going to see what these guys are getting.  Would any of you come even close to paying Judon what these guys are getting?

I sure wouldn't.  I don't think he is that good.  He is solid but not 12+M a year good.

Is Jimmy Smith worth a second round pick right now?

He may be.

I want to keep him but with these prices, no way in hell they should consider cutting him.  You either play him or trade him.

Might be a good idea to look into trading him if you can.   How would that affect the cap?
