Deified-Dozen-2019-Week-6.jpg

https://www.baltimor...ll-week-6-poll/

We have yet another first in Deified Dozen history after Week 6 of the 2019 College Football season, and that would be three ties in our rankings. Ohio State's big win over Michigan State moved them up to #4 into a tie with LSU. Surprisingly, that caused Oklahoma to drop two spots to #6 despite winning big on the road (Kansas is still not good, but under Les Miles they aren't THAT putrid anymore). At the lower portion of our poll Notre Dame and Penn State tied for #9, and Auburn's loss at Florida dropped them into an 11th place tie with Texas. Speaking of the Gators, the win made them the big riser of the week, up to #7 from #10 last week.

Week 7 will see another huge game for Florida, this time on the road in Baton Rouge to face the Tigers. Another game of great import is the Red River Rivalry in the Cotton Bowl, the Longhorns being by far the biggest test of the season thus far for the Sooners. Other members of our Dozen facing potential challenges are #1 Alabama traveling to Texas A&M, Wisconsin hosting Michigan State, Notre Dame hosting their annual matchup against USC, and Penn State traveling to Iowa (where ranked teams go to die). Yeah, it's a big week, so clear your Saturday calendar!

Just a heads up, starting Wednesday I will be traveling and will return next Wednesday. I won't be able to do the rankings until I get back, so it will be Wednesday night at the earliest, and maybe Thursday, when I get them posted. But it's still on! And seriously, this Saturday kicks ass in terms of quality matchups. As much as I'm looking forward to the trip, I'm pissed that it just happens to fall during what is the best week of the season so far.

Yea this weekend should be awesome.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

Deified-Dozen-2019-Week-7.jpg

https://www.baltimor...ll-week-7-poll/

Week 7 featured two big head-to-head games between members of the Deified Dozen, along with one shocking upset. The latter featured former #2 Georgia losing at home in OT to unranked South Carolina, dropping them all the way to #10. LSU got a big win over Florida and replaced the Bulldogs in the second spot, while the Gators fell to #11. Oklahoma knocked Texas out of the rankings, but only moved up one spot to #5. Wisconsin, Notre Dame and Penn State all got wins over quality opponents to solidify their positions and stay in the running for the College Football Playoff. Finally, Oregon returned to the Dozen for the first time since preseason, coming in at #12.

Week 8 is much lighter on marquee matchups, with the aforementioned Ducks facing the biggest challenge when they travel to Seattle to face their longtime border rival, Washington. #9 Penn State will host Michigan, who are just outside the Top 12 in many polls. South Carolina has a chance to knock of a second member of the Dozen in as many weeks when they host Florida.

Ricker doesn’t give a flying F about conventions and I love him for it!
