Previewing the all important edge-rushers that somehow became a sneaky deep position in the offseason. Depth does not necessarily equal production, but there is a lot of upside in this group.

Just saw on twitter that Ferguson failed his conditioning test...not that it is a huge deal, but it speaks to the difficulty of taking the leap into the NFL.

I hope he has a very successful rookie season, but I am going in with tempered expectations.

It feels like the Ravens test is one designed to fail players though, no?

Isn't Ferguson also a bigger guy for the position? If so, that's not all bad. Suggs has failed this test before, IIRC.

It's not a huge deal, but it's also not something that you want to see.

He had some weight issues in college and he looked like he was a bit out of shape during OTAs as well. I have no doubt he is going to see the field this year, but personally I am not expecting much production from him.

Let's also not forget that one of the reasons that he likely fell in the draft as far as he did is really poor athletic testing.

Sure. I trust the Ravens guys for getting it right, just like Orlando Brown.

I also think this test is designed to fail guys. And don't think it means really much of anything at all. Most of these guys think they can probably pass it, just like Pierce thought he could keep his weight under control.

You don't WANT to see this but these guys are also human, too.

Now if reports of him being lazy or too tired on the field come out, I'll join you then in the concerned corner and raise you to very concerned.

I would say I am mildly concerned, and that concern stems primarily from his history and seeing how he looked in OTAs. I think some time in an NFL weight room with team trainers will do him a lot of good.

I didn't see him in OTAs, but he's a bigger guy. But fair.

My take is Allen Iverson's...so, lol. You know. We're talking about (even before) practice.
