Knicks excited? They will have money for that offseason.

Sure, they're always excited about future free agents. Eventually they'll land some.

Westbrook traded to Houston for Paul.

From Woj:

The Oklahoma City Thunder have agreed to trade Russell Westbrook to the Houston Rockets for Chris Paul, first-round picks in 2024 and 2026, pick swaps in 2021 and 2025, league sources tell ESPN.

Have to think OKC is going to flip Paul somewhere, right?

This Paul George trade request turned out amazingly well for OKC even if they won't publicly admit. They're setup so well for the future.

Don't see this going super well for Houston, but it probably increases their upside in a year where the title is up for grabs.

Maybe, but it's not like he has value and not many teams can make it work with the cap.

Btw, CP3 actually played in OKC with the Hornets (later Pelicans) when they were displaced from New Orleans.

I just do not see how Westbrook and the Beard work.

A ball dominant guard, and a guy who has to play fast.

He can not have much value left, can he.

Lakers?

And that guy who has to play fast is not good from 3 at all. I don't see this going well for Houston either. This just adds to the theory that Harden and Paul could no longer play together.

Lakers?

Lakers have nothing they can trade in return that makes the cap #s work, at least at the moment....and they obviously can't absorb Paul into their current cap. Plus NO owns just about every draft pick they can trade right now.

Sam Amick: For those wondering, source tells @TheAthletic that OKC does this deal with full anticipation that Chris Paul will be part of a good team that now has a treasure trove of future assets. Gallinari, SGA, Adams, Roberson, Noel core, and EIGHT new 1st rounders, as @Travonne noted.

Obviously the Thunder aren't going to come out and say they want to flip a guy they just traded for ASAP....but if they could, I have no doubt they would. That core is a fringe playoff team in the West, at best, for this season at least.

Worked in OKC with Durant. Just about having a coach that can use a system to make it fit.

Westbrook wanted to play with Harden again.

They are an ISO ball team...it could work with both of them getting tons of shots.

Does Paul to Minnesota work?

Woj:

Houston hoped to find third-team destination preferable to Chris Paul, but ultimately leaves it OKC to execute next step once Presti confers w/ CP3 agent Leon Rose. Miami remains possibility for Paul (3 years, $124M) -- and OKC obviously has picks to incentivize deal, if needed.

Yep. He probably won't be in the league much longer, partly due to this crap, but much more so due to not being good.

The commentary was spot on. Like they said, it'd be one thing if he played like Charles Oakley. But instead he's standing around shooting (and missing 3's), then being a goon everytime something doesn't go his way. He's the king of befuddlement, too. What a piece of shit. I really want to see him get his ass handed to him by one of these real NBA players before he's gone. But just fading into oblivion would be nice enough. And a Summer League game to boot?
