So, has Lacy kinda leapfrogged Hancock as the top pitcher? I’ve seen a couple of mock drafts having the O’s select him at #2. Obviously, all just conjecture at this point.

Obviously Boras has his motives to say this but he is right.

Obviously Boras has his motives to say this but he is right.

Well, no-one has ever accused Boras of not using  an opportunity for grandstanding and self-promotion.

That aside, I think everyone is jumping too far out on the draft.  What I read in 2-3 articles this morning is people are starting to type "as few as" in front of 5 rounds.

I get that there's nothing to talk about, but maybe we should let it play out a little bit and see what happens.  5 rounds seems like maybe the worst case, baseball is cancelled answer.

One of the issues could be what you do with kids once you draft them.  If you draft them and they stay at home...what then?  The get the virus or do something dumb because they have no structure, it's your (the team) problem because they are now your employee.  The challenges/risks get more unbounded the less structure and control you have.

I promote doing more and getting more control (ie renting an entire hotel, testing everyone on your team, creating a closed system for getting the work in) but nobody looks like they're headed that direction.

It very much looks like they wanted to get some structure in place that can cover the myriad of undefined possibilities of this season and while we love to do the analysis without all of the information, maybe, in this case, we should just slow our roll just a little.

The Players are guaranteed a full year of service for this season and they are getting paid prorated salaries (games played) with a backstop of 170M (no season).....that's way more important to them than the draft, so blame the Players Union with whatever happens in the draft.  The Draft isn't their focus.

The more I see the name Rob Manfred the sicker to my stomach I get.  This ass clown is IMO, really hurting the game.

I rarely agree with Boras, but I do this time.

Manfred is easily the worst thing to happen to baseball in a long time.

I never understand the Manfred hate.  Selig was 100 times worse.

Every idea Manfred has, whether implemented or not, is awful.

I am still waiting for Manfred to make a positive contribution.

I guess I don't understand.  I'd be happy to discuss it more but probably not here. I didn't even look if there's a Manfred thread here, but if not, start one, if you want to discuss.

If you don’t understand what everyone else is seeing, why start a new thread?

Seems like a conversation that goes no where to me.

Actually, nobody has presented anything other some generalities.

It’s been talked about plenty in other threads.

I'm going with the 6-4, 215 pound lefty with four pitches, including a 98 mph fastball, over the righty who has many more questions about his ability to be a TOR arm. Both are high quality pitchers though and while I'd prefer the Orioles go college bat, I wouldn't be mad at all if they landed either of these arms. I was pretty pumped to watch these two battle once SEC play started and think Lacy would have clearly cemented himself as the top arm in the draft, should the rest of the season played out.

Wish we had a season to let these guys battle it out at the top of the draft but Martin, Torkelson, and Lacy all excite me.

I request permission to trade our top pick to the CWS for Nick Madrigal and Gavin Sheets.

I understand you can't officially do that, but let them pick the guy they want and at the point you're allowed to do the trade (sometime in the offseason), make the unofficial, official trade.
