According to Emily Giam (Washington Post), Bruno Fernando and Anthony Cowan will declare for the NBA Draft and hire agents.

PSA: Hiring an agent doesn't mean what it used to mean.

They can still return to school.

It would be pretty surprising to me if Cowan ever played a game in the NBA.

And I get it, he will be back...  and he's just getting feedback from the NBA... and I hope he's ready to hear that feedback.

Very good college player overall.  Will make good money as a pro somewhere.  Don't believe it will ever be in the NBA.

Looking forward to his Senior year.

I like this new rule. Too many agents feed these kids on NBA greatness then they don't get drafted.

Yea, pretty much where I am.  He is a good CBB player but hard to see him in the NBA

Maryland's Trace Ramsey is transferring. The freshman only played in five games this year.

Wings: Wiggins, D. Scott,
Bigs: J.Smith, Lindo, Makhi Mitchell, Tomaic, Makhel Mitchell

Goodman:

I stand corrected on this: Jalen Smith (Maryland) was probably the most surprising guy who didn’t test the process. Would have likely been a first-rounder.

I'm not surprised that Jalen will be back with the Terps next year, but I am surprised that he's not going through the pre-draft process before returning just to get a feel for what goes on so that he'll be better prepared for all the interviews and such next year.

Jalen would have been a 1st rounder?

I highly doubt it.  It's possible.  Good athlete. Can step out. Young.    But it's not like he is a polished player, and his limited strength is an issue at the college level.

Bruno has a stronger game currently, and he's basically looked at as a Top 25-35 guy.   Could Jalen gone to individual workouts, impressed someone, and been selected in the 1st... sure.  Would he have been an automatic 1st? That's a stretch imo.

It’s all about projection, you know that.

Him not being strong enough right now means very little.

Projection definitely matters, no doubt.  And that projection and a strong personal workout could have possibly gotten him into the 1st. Any argument that he definitively would have been a 1st rounder is a joke.

The tweet originally quoted said "Would have likely been a first-rounder," so I don't think that opinion and yours are at odds with one another.

"Would have likely been" feels a little optimistic to me, I'm with you that it seems possible to me but that falling to the 2nd round would be more likely.  I remain surprised that he didn't go test the waters, though.
