I really think they could compete in the Pac-12 and finish top 3, if not win it. Which is the only way we'll have to "look out" for them.

Teams are gonna realize it doesn't benefit them to schedule Boise. Florida St gained nothing if they win. Loses everything by losing.

However. If their true freshman QB is someone special, they rattle off like 40 straight wins, then maybe they will get the respect of being ranked like #4 at the end of a season and get a playoff chance in 2022. Even then it might not be enough depending on the teams in the mix. Cause if they make it up to say 5 or 6, the next season based on recruiting classes they will start at like 17, 23, not ranked at all? And have to climb all over again.

Here is a situation where relegation might be worth while. Assign each P5 conference a G5 conference. The last place team drops to the G5. The corresponding G5 champ moves up to the P5. Basically, the only way to see how the Boise St, UCFs of the world would fair.

Interesting idea Mike. But it would be tough. The problem is that the G5 would still be at a huge disadvantage unless you give them a several year window. Lets take the PAC12 for sake of discussion. Lets move BSU up and Oregon State down.

BSU has a total athletic budget of $48M. Oregon State (one of the lower PAC schools) had a revenue of $80M. So BSU is basically half of what the bottom of the PAC schools get. Now assume that BSU would get OSU's tv revenue share. Clearly that would be more than what they get currently. But that revenue couldn't be put to use until the following season. Now the year that BSU is promoted they do have the increased revenue AND the instant recruiting advantage by being able to say that they are in a P5 conference. And that is clearly a great recruiting tool.

But those "better" recruits typically wouldn't see the field for at least two years (this is especially true for the line positions. Shoot Oregon doesn't even typically award scholarships to lineman until they have been at school for two years in order to get them big and strong enough. Most HS kids are just not ready for that size jump.

So BSU would have to be better right out the gate than the lower echelon of the PAC. And they may well be that right out the gate....look at when Utah made the jump. But unlike in pro sports where you an parlay that money jump to instantly improve your roster that's not possible in college.

But I will say this. Right now, and its been this way for years, you could move BSU to the PAC 12 and they would be competitive right out the gate with their existing teams.

Meh. The SEC didn’t quite live up to its motto in the opening week of college football Saturday. Tennessee (Georgia State), South Carolina (North Carolina), Ole Miss (Memphis) and Missouri (Wyoming) all lost, and Kentucky (Toledo), Arkansas (Portland State) and Mississippi State (Louisiana) were in bitter fights at times.

Boise State has been playing at a P5 level for years and years now. They get brought up in every single conference realignment discussion. No doubt it's off-the-field considerations that are holding them up at this point.

He also has 9 carries for 98 yards and a TD.

First half isn’t over yet.

Over 500 total yards for Hurts.

More total TDs than incompletions.

It was real cute that anyone ever thought there was a real chance of Hurts coming to MD. Would've been sweet though.

The ND and Louisville game was closer than the score. The Cardinals just couldn't hang onto the ball. Five fumbles of which they lost three. And one point in the game Louisville fumbled. On the very next play ND fumbled. And like three plays later Louisville fumbled it right back to ND. Sick series of plays but hilarious if you weren't a fan of either of those teams.  :-P

It was three plays in a row, back-to-back-to-back turnovers. I'm a fan of one of the teams and it was still comedic, but maybe that's because my team ended up with the ball and a score before the half.

Louisville was stressing the ND defense with the speed option and outside running they did in the first half. The linebackers were getting lost. Almost seemed like it was gonna become an Army-Navy game with the way both teams were running the ball.

I left to let the dogs out after the second fumble and when I came back a minute later ND had the ball back. I didn't rewind to see that it was actually 3 straight turnovers. Hilarious.

On another hilarious note the all too early bowl projections came out yesterday. It has Boise State and ND in the Cotton Bowl. Now that is a game I wouldn't miss!!!
