Its one of the reasons why I think they selection criteria should be changed to require a playoff team to have been the conference champion. The key requirement for the NY6 bowl bid to the G5 is that they have to be a conference champion. The P5s should have the same requirement.

It's certainly fair that the P5 and G5 teams should be held to the same standard. But I go the other way....winning a conference championship often comes down to how a team plays in just one game, rather than over the course of a full season. Maybe they can come up with something like college basketball where you have a regular season champ and a tournament champ that are both recognized and eligible (though the tournament champ is the "official" one that gets the automatic invite to the NCAA's).

In the instance we're talking about in the SEC, if LSU goes unbeaten during the season, but loses to 1-loss Georgia in the CCG, both would at least be eligible for the Playoff. Still leaves Alabama out, but all I really want to see is the 4 best teams competing, wherever they may come from.

Mike, we totally agree. I have been questioning for the last 4 years why they G5 has some restriction that the P5 doesn't. Seems stupid to me. Now there is some argument to be made about winning your conference being a prime consideration if not out a requirement. Just expand to 8 and we can have our cake and eat it too.

Alabama up 35-7 on Mississippi State.

Penn State leading Indiana 20-14.   (As a MD fan, it's incredibly annoying that Indiana is this competent this year.)

Florida up 13-3 on Missouri.

Wisconsin leading Nebraska 34-21.

Michigan up 24-7 on Michigan State.

Oklahoma State up 24-0 on Kansas State.

Navy and Notre Dame coming up.

So much for the last tweet. Looks like Tua hurt again. Maybe worse. And now cue the (justified!) questions abouy why he was in there up 35-7? Or at all?
@AlabamaFTBL has one of the best medical staffs in sports. I just don’t get this though for the longer haul

Hearing Tua Tagovailoa’s hip injury is serious. Hip fracture. Similar to Bo Jackson’s career-ending injury. Surgery tonight or tomorrow morning. Praying for Tua and his family.

Wow

If true, I wonder what this does to his draft status.  I would be very weary about drafting him high with all the injuries he has had.

Also, I saw that he got hurt on what Saban said would have been his last series.  They wanted to practice a 2 minute offense.

ND crushing Navy 45-10 late in the 3rd.

Memphis leading Houston 21-20 and driving with just under a minute in the half.

Alabama is going to take a hit if Tua is out. My guess is that would put them out of the playoff hunt.

Bo Nix is overrated

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

If you’re Tua do you consider coming back and try to rebuild your draft stock? Make teams more confident in picking you?

Tua out for the season according to ESPN.

Good question Pedro. Going to be a tough call for sure.

If he is able to continue playing... based on these early reports, I'd be shocked if he went pro now.  I think he'll have to show his health.
This is a pretty serious injury by all accounts.

Yea, he could never play again.

He needs to figure that out first.

But I would take the money.

Someone will still draft him in the first round I think, if the prognosis is that he can play again.

But a dislocated hip is no joke. Pitta did come back from it but it happened again.

If he's told he'll be a pick in the first 3 rounds, I'm sure he'll go and take the cash.

And someone probably will tell him that.

But 1st round?  Wow, maybe.  That's pretty tough.  Your medical team will really earn their checks reviewing him, and giving you the confidence to select him.

Sure numerous teams will just take him off their board.

Maybe NE gets him late 1st, just confident they can make that gamble.
