I don’t know if they only fall 2 spots.

They may but when you look at this and say they lost at home and haven’t beaten anyone, how much does that hurt them?

OTOH, I don’t believe that anyone thinks Oregon or Utah are better than they are either, so I certainly see the argument that they should be in over them.

This was Alabama's version of Clemson's UNC game....the difference is Alabama only sucked for a half, and their opponent was one hell of a lot better than UNC. Not that I don't think they shouldn't be penalized for losing because they were sloppy early and fell too far behind to come all the way back. That's fair. But count me among those who don't think either Oregon or Utah are better.

I have them at 5 too but I think they are a vulnerable 5.

They will be rooting for Auburn next week but I think Bama could have teams leap over them.

UGA is at Auburn this week. That’s obviously a huge game for them. Get that win and that’s another quality road win for them.

Minnesota with another tough game at Iowa. That would be a solid win for them even if Iowa has lost some games.

The other big game is OU at Baylor. Baylor really needs to do something special to impress the committee. If Baylor loses, they are done.

OU still may have a chance to get in but they need a lot of help even if they win out.

Not exactly how I had it 1-12, but it's the same in my Top 5, and can't really argue with the rest.

Deified-Dozen-2019-Week-11.jpg

https://www.baltimor...l-week-11-poll/

Week 11 featured two games that had a major impact on the Deified Dozen and the College Football Playoff rankings, and neither game disappointed. At the top of the poll, LSU jumped to a big halftime lead, then held off an Alabama comeback effort to remain #1 in our poll. The loss dropped the Tide to #5. Meanwhile, Minnesota also survived a late charge by Penn State to win their biggest game so far this season. The win vaulted the Gophers to #8 among the Dozen, and Penn State fell to #11. Elsewhere, Oklahoma barely escaped their matchup with Iowa State, but paid a price for the close loss as they dropped to #12. Georgia got a solid win against Missouri to replace Alabama in the last Playoff spot at #4.

Week 12 features one head-to-head Dozen matchup when Georgia travels to the Plains to take on their SEC cross-division rival, #10 Auburn. While the Bulldogs remain the likely SEC East division winner, they must avoid another loss to remain in the Playoff picture. Minnesota also faces a tough task when they travel to Kinnick Stadium, the graveyard of ranked teams, to play Iowa. And finally Oklahoma hits the road to play unbeaten Baylor, who barely missed our rankings this week, in a crucial Big 12 matchup of teams hoping to sneak into the Playoff race.

Same 1-8 as the committee. 9-12 are the same teams but in a different order.

Baylor and Wisconsin also received votes here and are 13 and 14 in the poll.

Interesting that the PAC 12 is back in play after they seemed dead in the water early in the season. Probably more likely that Bama wins out and gets in at 4, but there's always some chaos at the end. Maybe Baylor winning out as Big 12 champ could shake some things up, though I doubt it.

Well one thing we know for sure. LSU, Bama, and Georgia all are not winning out.

No, but as unlikely as it might be you can come up with a scenario where all three of those teams get in.

So lets see if we can get there. Bama, Georgia, and LSU win out then Georgia beats LSU in the SEC Championship.

Georgia ends up 12-1.

LSU ends up 12-1.

Alabama ends up 11-1.

Clemson would have to lose one game and the ACC championship.

Minn or Ohio State would have to lose one game and the ACC championship

Utah or Oregon would have to lose a game and the PAC 12 championship.

Baylor or Oklahoma would have to lose a game and the Big 12 championship.

And even if all that happens I don't think the committee puts in three SEC teams. But it would certainly make for some interesting discussion. Its one of the reasons why I think they selection criteria should be changed to require a playoff team to have been the conference champion. The key requirement for the NY6 bowl bid to the G5 is that they have to be a conference champion. The P5s should have the same requirement.
