The SEC is looking more and more like most P5s. A couple of really really good teams and then a bunch of not so much teams.

Having both New Mexico State and Western Carolina on the schedule is embarrassing.

Do have A&M, LSU, Auburn.

Schedule looks worse because Tennessee is down, as are Arkansas, and both Ole Miss, and Miss State.

Duke being your best OOC game is pathetic.

Unless you're the ACC, and you have one really good team and a bunch of not so much. Or the Pac -12, where it's just a bunch of not so much.

(I actually like Utah this season, but because the conference sucks and they don't have a signature OOC game, they have no margin for error. Their only shot at the Playoff is to go 13-0)

Bama's schedule is such garbage.

Piggybacking on this:

Memo to Alabama: If you don't want to have midday kickoffs in the oppressive Alabama heat, schedule better non-conference opponents and you will get prime time game slots.

Deified-Dozen-2019-Week-2.jpg

https://www.baltimor...ll-week-2-poll/

The two big Deified Dozen head-to-head matchups this past week did not go well for the Lone Star State, as both Texas and Texas A&M lost to LSU and Clemson, respectively, and subsequently fell from our rankings. That vaulted Penn State and Utah into the Dozen for their first appearance of the season, tying for the 11th spot with 15 votes each. LSU's big win made them a big riser too, as they added 17 votes to move from #7 to #4. On the flip side, Michigan dropped four spots to #10 after needing overtime to complete an uninspiring win against Army....but Oklahoma had a similar storyline agains the Cadets last season, and still made the Playoff, so you never know.

Week 3 does not feature much in the way of tantalizing matchups. #1 Clemson's trip to Syracuse lost some luster when the Orange suffered a beatdown at Maryland to drop from the polls. The Battle of Pennsylvania doesn't figure to be too closely contested when 1-1 Pitt travels to #11 Penn State. South Carolina doesn't figure to be a threat when they host #2 Alabama with a freshman QB taking over after a season-ending injury to Jake Bentley. And speaking of crushing QB injuries, the best matchup and upset possibility took a hit when Kentucky lost Terry Wilson for the season and will have to face #9 Florida with a transfer from Troy (Sawyer Smith) as their starter.

UNC has had two impressive late-game comebacks against S Carolina and Miami so far this season. Mack Brown & Co. are going to need another one to go 3-0, losing to Wake 21-0 at the half.

Good finish coming in this UNC/Wake game. Carolina cut the lead to 21-18 with just over 2 minutes left.

FG Wake, 24-18, UNC to get the ball at their 25 with 1:09 left, no timeouts.

Poor situational awareness by UNC's QB at the end as time runs out. Wake wins and goes to 3-0, but in an oddity this was actually a non-conference game.

UNC probably should have been allowed 1 more play, but doesn't look like that will happen....

EDIT: Good explanation by ESPN in the studio on that last play. Because the UNC player's forward momentum was stopped while he was inbounds, the clock keeps running, even though he immediately stepped out of bounds with 1 second still left.

Saw a first in the WSU/Houston game....the WSU slot receiver snapping the ball to the QB at the start of the play. It got a penalty, but only because he didn't execute the snap in one motion. If he had, it would have been legal.

The last play in the UNC game was so sad. Probably wouldn't have made a difference but they would have had a hail mary shot to the end zone. Instead....ah they lose. Stupid.

So has Iowa / Iowa State...

BYU and USC headed to OT. Some, well lets say, home cooking calls in this one.

Interesting day for the Pac-12. USC chokes (of course) in Provo in OT, but Arizona St pulls a big upset on the road at Michigan St.

Also not a banner day for the B1G. Two ranked teams lose (MD and MSU) a third currently losing (Iowa), a fourth (Penn St) looked less-than-impressive in beating Pitt by 7 (they were a 17.5 point favorite). And Illinois (bye Lovie) blows it at home on a last second FG by E Michigan.

Three ranked teams already lost to unranked teams today and Iowa could be next. That's why they play the game.

Keep an eye on Kentucky vs Florida too. Wildcats lead 21-16 early in the 4th.

Looks like Iowa will escape with a 1-point win. But #25 UVA might need to be put on upset alert, they head to the 4th Qtr down 17-10 to Florida St.
