Lets get this done ladies!!!

Lineup should be up any second. I expect the same starting XI as against England except to see Rapinoe back in place of Press. The key to this game will be to defend set pieces well. Netherlands is very dangerous on set pieces but I think they have trouble scoring on us in the run of play. And I don't think the Dutch can keep us from scoring a couple.

Well its out and I was close. Ellis is starting Mewis in place of Horan. Which is pretty close IMO. I would still have liked to seen Ellis move Ertz back to CB so she could start a midfield of Lavelle, Mewis, and Horan but this is ok as we have seen. Now the question is how fit is Rapinoe and how will Lavelle's hammy hold up. If Lavelle is strong she is going to pair with Rapinoe and Heath and cause all kinds of havoc in the middle of the field....and that means open space for Morgan to exploit.

Ive been staring at this lineup for a while now. Just doesn't feel right to me. I mean I thought we played much better last game with the subs than we have in the elimination bracket so far. I don't know that I would have gone back to the default lineup. Like you said, maybe it's just one move at midfield. Maybe it's Heath out for Press. I think deep down I'm more worried about how our D is going to stand up to the Dutch offense. I don't think we can afford those gaffs where Dunn gets beat and gives up a chance, then scrambles to get back in after they've missed or had something blocked. Gonna be a lot of pressure on Julie to get back there defensively.

I guess for me, I look at the changes they have been making in the final 10-15 min every game, it's always Heath out for someone, another change at MF. And Lloyd comes in. If you think that's your shut down lineup you use to cinch the win, why wouldn't you start with that?

Maybe I'm just overthinking it, but I guess we'll see.

For the record, I don't like it when men do it either. Though I can't really think of an example right now.

It's not surprising that the English are being prim regarding celebrations.

Lighten up. Have some fun.

US completely dominated that half until about the 40th minute. Yet, it is scoreless. #soccer

The Dutch, so far, are only in this game because their keeper came up big two or three times.  But a hot keeper can make all the difference in the world.

Ref has been very inconsistent. Right before the Dutch started their offensive play Lavelle got fouled just outside the Dutch box. No call. Then the Dutch counter and just outside the our box a much less contact does get called and the Dutch get a free kick.

At the half O'hara off and Krieger in. Need Rapinoe to step it up. She's been slow to use the space on the wing. I would like see Press before too long.

A bunch of no-calls in this game. I still think Press for Heath and Horan for Mewis, but that's just me. Dunn has been up in the offensive press more than back on D, but the MF has kept them from getting back too deep to cost us.

Lloyd is coming in for someone, it's just a question of who.

Yesterday a guy who knows I write the soccer stuff for this website was playing online poker with me. He asked who I had today and I said our ladies but Mexico wins the Gold Cup. Then he asked me what the score would be for the game this morning. I told him 2-0. I hope he took that to the bank....lol.

Well deserved result. Other than the last 5 minutes of the first half the Dutch had no attack and just sat back hoping to absorb pressure. Well they did that for a long time but there wasn't much question who the better side was.

Well done ladies except now I have to go buy a new team jersey because mine only have three stars!!!

Lol, I was just looking at some of the new 4 star stuff online. My girls have Rapinoe, Pugh and Morgan jerseys already...I'm waiting to see how long before they ask me for new ones. I know the 8 year old has decided Ertz is her new favorite.

SIDENOTE* How stacked for the future is the Washington Spirit with Pugh, Lavalle AND Sullivan who was the last cut for the national team?

For me the US player of the tournament was Julie Ertz.  And it certainly wasnt' any of the ATM who really had a hard time scoring unless it was from the penalty spot.  Great overall tournament. Fields were fantastic. Crowds were great especially for US matches. Refs....eh...ok. Not bad but too inconsistent for me (but then I am hardly ever satisfied with the officiating at this level).

Can't wait 2023. We may actually be better than this time around!!

I dunno, I'm looking forward to the Olympics next year, and the tourney in 2022 before we get to the next WC. Complete honesty, as part of the raising winnings for the WC, I wouldn't be sad to see them do it every 2 years, but I get wanting to keep it every 4. I just wish they'd have one big global event a year in that 4 year cycle.

From 2009 through 2019 — a timeframe that includes two Women’s World Cup championships — the Women’s National Team has earned gross revenue of $101.3 million over 238 games, for an average of $425,446 per game, and the Men’s National Team has earned gross revenue of $185.7 million over 191 games, for an average of $972,147 per game. More specifically, WNT games have generated a net profit (ticket revenues minus event expenses) in only two years (2016 and 2017). Across the entire 11-year period, WNT games generated a net loss of $27.5 million.
