It stills seems strange to me, to see how Duke has become such a one and done type program.

Their actions suggest otherwise.

Now sure, they'd prefer the system to change, but under the current system they're obviously good with going with the one and done approach.

They are going after the same players they always have...the best ones.

Now, they have chosen to go after guys that are likely to leave and aren’t settling for lesser talent, which I guess they could be doing.

In that way, I guess they are “embracing” it but it’s more of just recruiting the best guys they can.

Yeah, so under the current system, they do want one and done guys.

I also think they have embraced those types of players a little more than they used to, but perhaps that's wrong.

I wish draft eligibility required at least 2 years of college first. Or better yet, you can bypass college altogether if you chose, but then you can only sign a contract up to a set amount (couple hundred thousand maybe) and you have to play for a developmental league team for at least one full season.

Let them take the gamble skipping college, and getting paid to play in the minors, but that team owns their rights for 5 years. I dunno, as unfair as the salary limits are in baseball I like the general system. If minor leaguers got paid more than a living wage, I think it'd be a good one, and wouldn't mind seeing it for all sports. Make kids earn their time, these instant millionaires at 18-19 years old aren't always whats best for teams. Let them mature making good money but not BALLER money, and then cash in on that mega contract at 23 or later. Gives teams more of a chance to see what they have and compete with the larger market teams.

Eh, I think they've done a pretty good job of reducing rookie contracts since the 90's. Otherwise, while more information (time spent in college or overseas) can certainly be advantageous to the teams, I think the players can actually develop better by going pro.

I think Kentucky with Anthony Davis and Michael Kidd Gilchrest.

Also, I think, it may become more likely, with teams like Duke and UK, discarding the traditional recruiting and team building method, and becoming basically intern programs for the NBA.

Morant should be the #1 pick in terms of just pure talent.

I wonder if these one and done guys are going to start taking some of the higher salary one year G-League deals and just bypass this dog and pony show?
