40-14 overall, winners of their last 11.

Beyond the Big 3, the Spurs have a nice rotation of players. Gary Neal is averaging 9.7 ppg, and shooting 39% from 3.
DeJuan Blair averages 9.6 ppg, and 5.5 boards in 21 mts per. Stephen Jackson, and Danny Green also contribute.

Kawhi Leonard (1st round pick, 15th overall out of San Diego St) is averaging 8ppg, 5.2 boards, and 1.4 steals.

Have been a bit under the radar all year. Duncan would cap a great career with another ring.

Heard a stat today - they have 2 11-game winning streaks this year. Remarkable on the shortened schedule in the NBA this year and that the Spurs are one of the older teams in the league.

Reaffirms my belief that Poppovich is the best coach in the NBA and one of the best coaches to ever coach in the NBA. What he is able to do with a team, pull talent out of players (Gary Neal, Matt Bonner, etc), and work with his veterans to conserve them during this shortened schedule and still be the #1 seed in the West is unreal!

Good team. Great coach. No chance of winning title.

In fairness, people thought the same going into last year and they clearly ended up having a chance.

I do agree that it's very unlikely as the Heat and Thunder should be better and the Lakers have propelled themselves past the Spurs.

I disagree. Thy may have been an excellent reg season team but there is a difference between that and winning multiple 7 game series vs the 3 top teams.

You disagree that they had a chance last year?

And we don't know that they would have to win 3 series' vs top teams as obviously injuries can happen that change things.

Yea, they did have a chance now that I think about it. I felt they would win.

But after seeing them lose to OKC and watching Miami take that next step, they have no chance this year...and that is before I mention the Lakers.

They would have to beat one of OKC or LA and Miami..they have no chance at doing that unless some big time injuries occur.

The Spurs win because they play the game the right way. Pop is the best coach in the NBA, and has been for a long time. However when it gets to playoff time they get other teams doing the same thing and their age gets in their way. No one gets more out of their role players than the Spurs, but come playoff time the other team with their younger stars and freher legs wear out the Spurs.
Frankly, the same was true of the Celtics last year.
Could they win it all as a last stand, maybe but IMO highly unlikely.

So Duncan can be a center when there are two forwards better than him in terms of making first-team all NBA but he's the "greatest power forward of all time" -- what a joke.

In terms of power forwards, you could argue David Lee and LaMarcus Aldridge were both better than him this year.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

Lee only if you ignore defense. Duncan was really good, but didn't play a lot of minutes. Gasol would have been my choice.

Yes, Gasol 1st team Center.

Doesn;t Lopez deserve a spotr somewhere and is it just me or is Griffin as 2nd team unworthy as well.

Yep...although he has been more of an impact player in the NbA than I thought he would be.

Griffin is one of those shooting stars that come alopng and people love for awhile because he's uber athletic and throws down some nasty dunks but then they realize he's got a lot of issues with his game.

Chris Paul doesn;t like him for a reason. he knows he's not going to win a championship with him as his #2.

Yep. His #1 skill is transcendent so people think he's better than he really is. People can blame VDN all they want. Sure, he looks goofy and all, but he's got a #2 in Griffin who people perceive as an all star and who is paid as an all star who really isn't close to an all star. Then he's got a total black hole offensively in Jordan who is paid 11M per year.

Clips aren't as close as people think.

Griffin is a very good player, much better than David Lee for instance, but yeah, he's not as good as the hype and needs to improve some things.
