I am anxious to see him play CF.

Also adds speed.  Give him and Villar the green light on the bases....make the games a little more fun.

He's batting .214 in his last 42 AB's.

What's the rush exactly?

Because he has done plenty in the minors to get a look.

Meh, 42 is too small a sample size. Small enough that I should also point out he's .333 in his last 21 AB's. So screw it, let's see what we have.

We need every game of the rest of the season to determine if he'll be our opening day starter for the pivotal 2019 season!

Yeah, at least he has picked it up since the last time I engaged in this conversation.

The biggest thing is seeing if he can handle CF defensively.  We can see what he can do with the bat later.  I am more curious about the defense at the moment.

It will be nice for us to see this, but the organization should already have a good idea.

Obviously sticking in CF is important to his value, because he's only had one stint in the minors (49 games to start this year in AA) where his bat produced enough to think of him in a corner. Actually that stint is also probably the only time his bat has produced well enough to project him as a decent or better CF unless the D is better than expected.

Sun article:

The 24-year-old Mullins will start at center field, with incumbent Adam Jones making his first start in right field since before he joined the Orioles ahead of the 2008 season. Mullins said Jones has been in constant contact about the transition and provided his blessing. Just as Mullins was taken to his locker to meet with the local media, Jones walked through the clubhouse and gave him a hug to welcome him.

Going back to the discussion of what's the point of him being around for the rest of the season or even beyond...

This is worth something to a rebuilding team. I don't know how much, but it might be more than some mediocre prospect or whatever they would have gotten for him.

I'm looking forward to see Mullins play. Hopefully his bat is productive enough to warrant a starting spot beyond the rebuilding phase. I'm skeptical, but he also brings some speed and baserunning value.

On that note, it's kinda fun having some team speed now with Mullins and Villar.

He should really shut up with this hugging stuff, and keep his thoughts to himself.;)

Im skeptical his defense will be good enough.

Not sure I buy him as a starter at this level but I want to see if he can do it.

Be great if he can handle CF at an above average level and be a 700+ OPS guy.

Yep.  I don't care if the steal bases but everything that speed does is something I feel is very underrated in todays game.

You guys need to let it go. No one really thought AJ was a bad guy or that he should shut up and play. Its not black and white. Dont take it to the extremes
