Kevin was one of the better players on the USA U18 team a few years ago that won gold. There were some really talented kids on that roster. This isnt that big a surprise. Sounds like he might go Top 20

ESPN's latest mock has him going 19.

Testudo Times: Maryland's Kevin Huerter has surgery, out for 2 months, per report

Former Maryland basketball forward Kevin Huerter has reportedly undergone surgery on his right hand to repair torn ligaments and will be out for two months, per ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski.

The immediate fear is that Huerter’s draft stock may drop as a result of this news, but that may not be the case. Sports Illustrated’s Jeremy Woo is reporting that Huerter was shut down after a team picking in the 20s promised him they’d draft him.

Horrible timing, but glad to hear he has assurances. Hope it all works out.

Risky to trust that a team will take you.  What if someone they like even better but don't expect to be there drops?

I imagine he wouldn't have halted his workouts and entered the draft just on the promise of a single team.

Kevin Huerter was selected in the 1st round (#19) of last night's NBA Draft by Atlanta.

Justin Jackson was selected in the 2nd round (#43) by Denver, and subsequently traded to Orlando.

In retrospect, they both made the right moves.

Good Luck to them both.
