The SI article had three points it said needed to be overcome to get the playoffs expanded to 8 teams. So nothing burgers.

• The first round would have to take place either during final exams or the week of Christmas.

Response - So? The FCS already has games during this period. There are bowl games during this period. And these have been like this forever. So you are telling me its somehow "different" for an FBS playoff game?

• It wouldn’t make sense to play the semifinals at bowls anymore. Holding the first two rounds at campus sites would make seeding matter, would be better on television and ease the travel burden for fans, but schools would have to cut out the people who have been greasing their leaders for decades. They’ll act like this is a huge issue even though it would actually improve the event.

Response - Already answered his own question. Exactly right.

• Teams would be forced to play more games, and the optics of that will be terrible if the schools don’t slide the players a little extra for the effort. Sometimes you’ve got to spend money to make money.

Response - This is total garbage. The FCS already plays more games than this and what are they getting?  Please canvas all the FBS football players and find out how many who say NO to a chance to play for the MNC since they would have to play an extra ONE game over the current system yet it would double their chances of getting in. Seriously this is really weak sauce.

There is no real justification for not expanding the playoffs to 8 teams. Even the "it diminishes the regular season" argument has been shown to be bunk. Just get on with it. Everybody makes more money. The fans get more quality football. The players have an improved chance to play for a title. What's not to like!!!

Eh. I def don’t think that Texas team is 1. They were good. But could have easily lost that title game (as good as it was)

‘01 Miami, late 00s Tebow Gators and those USC teams are all contenders.

I will say I’d love to see those offensive juggernauts take on the recent Bama teams that basically start 11 NFL players

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

BSU came in 22 actually ranked just ahead of Okie State at 25. We could have a very special season if:

a. Bret Rypien now a four year starter has to show he can avoid the dumb plays. He is a terrific QB but subject to brain farts. Think Bret Farve.

b. Have to beat Okie State in the third week of the season at Stillwater.

Bring on some football!!
