I've got him over Rodriguez, I think I'm in the minority on that.  The walks are a concern but they just flat out can't hit this guy.  Very impressive in an extreme hitters park and being young for the league.  I'm betting he gets the walks under control and turns into the TOR starter we've been yearning for.  Elias seems to be very deliberate in his promotions thus far, so I'm thinking Hall spends next year in Bowie and will be ready for a call up in 2021.

If he stays healthy.

Lefties are funny developmentally. Sometimes they blow through fast because no one is used to hitting advanced lefties, and sometimes they take a little bit longer to bake, really taking their time to learn each step (think crafty lefty phrase). I don't know if it has more to do with them being left handed or just individual development, but for some reason I always watch the lefties in the minors a little more closely to see if they have or learn an advantage.

RHP get more favorable matchups since there are so many more RHB in the minors, but the lefties tend to either have a pitch that can attack them, or they learn one in the minors.

I've had this same kind of thought in my head for a bit now though, watching the development of him and Gonzalez side by side, does one move faster than the other? What kind of tools do they develop for attacking off handed batters and/or 2 strike counts. What kind of secondaries are they polishing up down there. Those are the interesting things for me.

He has three plus pitches and a get me over curve. It’s gonna come down to developing command.

I have Rodriguez over him but it’s very close. Hall has the higher ceiling.

I have GRod higher because of the walks.

I think Hall likely has the higher ceiling though.

May change my order depending on how they end the season.

I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

“#orioles prospect injury news: LHP DL Hall, 1st rounder in 2017, will miss rest of season at Class A Frederick with left lat strain. Grade 1. Mild. But won't be enough time in season to come back. Might play in the fall. Has 3.46 ERA, 1.33 WHIP and .189 average-against 19 games”

Ok...that sucks but probably only loses a few starts.

Hopefully he can go to the AFL.

How is this calculated?  Is this amount of swinging strikes on total pitches thrown or swinging strikes on strikes thrown?

I would shut him down, game wise,  until spring training.

No sense risk getting it aggravated in AFL and not being able to work an off season program

Total pitches.

Then that is a hell of a rate.  I figured that is what it is based off of.  If it was swingstr% on strikes, his rate is probably well over 20%, which is really good.

Its all about that walk rate.  If/when he gets that down, he could end up being an elite, TOR guy.

Clayton Kershaw was 19 for the entire 2007 season.  In that year, he played mostly at single A but he did get 5 starts in AA as well.

In single A, he threw 97 innings in 20 starts.  His ERA was 2.77.  His K rate was 12.4, his walk rate was 4.6 and his HR rate was .46.  He also gave up only 6.7 H per 9 IP.

Hall had a higher K rate, lower HR rate and a higher BB rate.  Hall also gave up less hits per 9 IP.

If DL Hall were to improve his control this year, would he have #2 starter potential?

He has #2 starter potential already, if he improves both his command and his control.

I can't wait to finally have the opportunity to watch all of his starts at Bowie. I would go on my yearly rant about Frederick needing MiLB broadcasts but that may be a moot argument soon, unfortunately.
