A very bad day for military demonstration aircraft as both an Air Force Thunderbird and a Navy Blue Angels jet crashed today (6/2). The Thunderbird pilot survived, the Blue Angel pilot did not.

An Air Force Thunderbird jet crashed Thursday in Colorado just after a flyover at a graduation ceremony for Air Force Academy cadets where President Barack Obama had spoken.

Air Force spokeswoman Lt. Col. Michal Kloeffler-Howard said the pilot ejected but there was no information on the pilot's condition. No injuries were reported on the ground.

SMYRNA — One person has been reported dead after a U.S. Navy Blue Angels jet crashed following takeoff during a practice flight around 3 p.m. Thursday, according to a county fire dispatcher.

Larry Farley, Rutherford County fire chief, said his dispatchers were told one person was killed. A U.S. Navy spokesman confirmed about 3:30 p.m. that a Blue Angel jet was involved in an incident.

At least it wasn't a case of the team following the leader into the ground....

This is a perfect example of why they should not have cheapened the word "hero" by applying it to everybody who ever put on a uniform...

When everybody is supposedly a "hero", what are we s'posed to call a real one?
