More than any other prospect this spring, outfielder Joey Rickard has put forth a compelling case to make the Baltimore Orioles’ Opening Day roster. His performance should put an end to months of speculation about his status with the Orioles.

He has earned the right to make the roster.

The next thing we need to see is if he can do enough on the field to justify keeping him all year.

As Zach said, there are certainly reasons why he makes sense for this roster but he still needs to perform.

Buck uses every roster spot and we don't need another Garcia situation where you are afraid to put someone in.  You can't throw away games in what will likely be a close race throughout and if you do end up sucking, seeing what he can do is important, as he can be a cheap bench guy for a few years.

There's something about Rickard that makes me think he isn't going to suck.

To me he looks a lot, a lot like Brett Gardner.

I think he's a lock at this point. He's earned it.
