I did not think Mountcastle was coming up in September. I am changing my mind. He seems to be surging and they may reward that.

@NorfolkTidesCongrats to Ryan Mouncastle, who has been named the International League Most Valuable Player! Mountcastle is the first Norfolk player to take home the honor since 1997!
If that doesn't warrant a call up in September then I don't know what does.

The 1997 MVP was some guy named Roberto Petagine, so this isn't necessarily a ticket to stardom.
Randy Milligan was the IL MVP in 1987 for Norfolk.

8 walks so far in August. That was the one thing lacking from his game that I think he needs to improve upon in order to be able to really be an asset at the plate in the majors if he's only gonna be able to DH. Just one month, so could easily fall back into his never-walk ways. Only 14 walks total from April thru July.

They should have tried this last year. A lot of big guys can not make the pivot correctly. I guess we will find out if Mountcastle can, The shift cuts down on how many pivots a second baseman makes.

If you go read Elias' actual comment to the question, it's probably not much of a thing. Feels like he was trying to be nice in his answer.
