Good actually, like his approach.

Physically he reminds me of Pete Incaviglia.

Very patient. They are over-shifting him and he does seem to be rolling over some though. SSS though and I'm not sure about the book on him in the minors. Like to see some gap/opp field power. He looks pretty athletic for his frame.

Sorry he's not a serious prospect in my opinion. Never was, never will be.

Doesn't have to be a serious prospect to provide some value.

Platoon LF / DH...   potentially some time at 1st if there are other moves.

He could be a contributor. Contract cheap for years.

Clearly the AAA season was disappointing.  We will see.

First Round MLB picks as a whole have about a 66% chance of reaching the Majors I believe.

So, if 34% of all 1st rounders don't make the bigs.... than the percentage only stands to be higher for where Stewart was selected (25th overall).

Given that, you could argue just reaching the Majors would be an accomplishment, and that if he gives you anything all... that's a win.

Just my two cents: if you're drafting a guy at #25 and he's nothing but utility guy but you think organizationally he's something else then your either incompetent or stupid or both organizationally.

Well of course they didn't draft him to be that.... they drafted him with the hope he'd be more.

But if he becomes useful at the ML level, that's not a complete bust when 34% of 1st round picks don't even reach the Majors, and obviously that many more selected 25th overall.

We will see what he does.   Definitely fair to say it's disappointing that it doesn't appear there is additional upside there.... but that doesn't mean he can't be useful to a degree.

When he was drafted, no one really felt it was a reach. Most had him rated in the area of where the Os took him.

You are way off on this. You obviously believe that if you draft someone high, they should always hit. It’s dumb to think that way.

Lol. It's his thing.  He's literally moved on from everyone, except for that Witt guy, who is the best prospect of all time.

Stewart seems like he could potentially be a crowd favorite, if he can play at all.

Give him 500+ ABs next year....... he’s got a good approach at the plate, can run a little, and we’re going to suck anyways. Obviously there’s some potential there..... he hit in AA last year, struggled at Norfolk where hitting prospects go to die.

What do we have to lose?

Well, we need a vet OF to remind Mullins to eat his peas.

Again, like his approach. Very quick bat path with a short, smooth stroke. He reminds me of what we used to call a ‘gamer’, getting the most out of his ability.

Yeah, I'm not sold on the guy, but I like the approach.  Give him a shot next year with at least 300 or 400 ABs.  With guys like this needing playing time,  the chance of Jones returning close to nil.  Especially with Buck supposedly gone.

We need more 'gamers" like Stewart.  He has too produce though.
