I'm in and out on AEW, but what I've seen has been really good. Two things:

1) They are really lacking in women's wrestling talent. They're like WWE was in about 2008, except they're not doing jello and B&P matches.

2) Their promos are outstanding. Cody and Jericho have had two of the three best promos this whole year, and they've only been on the air, what, 5 weeks?

The promo last night for their match Saturday was great.  The inner circle guy stating that Jericho is the youngest AEW champion ever was hilarious!

Same. I'm paying attention but not actively watching.

Yeah that was my big feeling a couple months ago. When I was thinking, how would I try to compete as fast as possible? Adding talent was #1-3 and I SWORE they were going to poach a couple of the girls when it seemed like they started getting buried. With Sasha ending her contract and being mad at the WWE storyline, I SWORE she was going to be the first, and then a couple of the others would follow and that would flesh that out, when she resigned with WWE that was a huge blow to AEW. I think Orton was in a way too, just because there really isn't much out there for them to go after.

Ambrose was a good coup. But Rowan looks like he may be the next, and maybe like the Revival (in case anyone is wondering why they keep getting pushes right now, it's cause they are trying to keep them happy for negotiations). I think HHH realizes they dodged a bullet with TNA. They let a lot of guys go, especially some aging guys that still had some drawing power, and TNA had a lot of up and coming talent. If they had the funding behind them like AEW seems to and would have made better choices on a structure, I think they legit would have been a contender. I think Hunter knows the best way to keep that from happening is to secure the young talent he's raised, and to give more opportunities so guys/gals don't get frustrated and look to jump ship when their deals are over.

The next area I think AEW will start to browse is going to be MMA. Looking for some guys like Riddle, Cain etc. who may be kind of done over there, but could train and do well in wrestling. Imagine how different things would be looking right now had AEW been the ones to sign Ronda and her horsewomen?

SB and Ronda got really good, really quickly. They are stars and should be treated as such. SB is quietly becoming the best women's wrestler on all three brands. I'd put her barely below Charlotte, Asuka and Io, but she's definitely on the Becky/Sasha/Bayley tier.

I've been really impressed with the next wave there in NXT lately too, at some point they are either going to have to give the girls their own show or some people are going to leave to get screen time, cause them sharing 30 min a night isn't going to be enough. That's why I thought natural progression a couple like Sasha would be headed out. I think the next one up is Mandy Rose actually contract wise, but they aren't going to be able to keep everyone.

The actors you mean?

They 100% do not. I promise you not one single person at Fox or NBC cares in the slightest who is on what wrestling show. They care that this show pulls in certain ratings in certain demographics and that's about the extent of their involvement.

Any kind of moving people around to certain shows is an attempt by WWE to spike ratings and increase their value in negotiations later.

I was joking. My bad. I’m sure in 10 years we’re going to see that 7 guys/girls in that room are now stars on the roster.

You ever see the picture of Adam Rose's Rosebuds? That's a pretty solid Who's Who.

Becky, Braun, Carmella, Dana Brooke, Elias, Simon Gotch...pretty crazy.

I love those little wrinkles. Ciampa as the attorney. Dillinger playing "Stan."

Random: Until someone noted it to me, I had no idea that Damien Priest was Punishment Martinez.

It's like Velveteen Dream. One small tweak, and you're a star.

Yeah that’s a lot. I seem to remember seeing Alexa and Charlotte and maybe some others were escorts for HHH at WM before.
Also Cesaro was a security guard before. DDP drove the Honky Tonk Mans Cadillac at WM 6 or 7.

Me neither.  Saw Martinez in Bel Air , and never made the connection until my son pointed it out.

CM Punk was one of the "gangsters" in HHH's mafia WM entrance.

Sasha was also one of the escorts with Alexa/Charlotte.

Just sped through Back Stage that ran last night.  The end of the show was surprising.  CM Punk came out at the end of the show.  He hugged Renee, and said he would see us next week.

Everyone but Renee seemed surprised by Punk's appearance.

It's fantastic. Great to see him back in the fold.

I bet he's wrestling by next Survivor Series.

He stole and tweaked Roddy Piper's line.

I 1000% think this is WWE caving because of the thought he could go to AEW and steal a huge portion of WWE ratings. Without competition, Punk is never heard from again in WWE. Ergo, competition is a great thing.

You are probably right, although Punk claims AEW pissed him off, because they tried to recruit him through Twitter.

I think Punk's contract is likely with Fox, but the door is open now, and I would not be surprised to see Punk work a limited in-ring schedule.

His entrance last night was pure Punk.   Renee set it up perfect too.

AEW certainly missed a golden opportunity though.

Yeah been saying this a while now. I really think HHH is having a lot of influence. Most of the moves and signings being made right now are like blocks in connect 4 when your opponent just worked their ass off to get 3. They are very strategic, and have zero of the ego of a McMahon move.

If you block their ability to get talent, it'll take them too long to organically grow and eventually they will suffocate themselves. But if they kept to those annual salary purges they used to do, some real talent would slip through and become a weapon for the other side. If WWE retained their talent in the 90's the Monday Night Wars never get that serious. Where would WWE have been without that Jericho/Guererro/Malenko/He-who-shall-not-be-named haul?

CM Punk was pretty good on Back Stage.  Still sounds bitter, but did not rule out wrestling again.

He said he has not talked to anyone from WWE.

The only negative about Punks appearance, was some language at the end of the show that should not have gotten out.

Punk is not a big fan of Social media.

How much of this show is kayfabe? Some of it has to be right? He can't possibly be hired to be on this WWE talk show without having met with WWE. There has to be a script to follow, approved by Vince. Nothing with the WWE logo on it happens without his fingers on it, right?

I get that on say NFL pregame shows, Roger Goodell doesn't write the script. But this is clearly different.
