We're having a black tie optional wedding next weekend. I don't see an issue with it. Most of my friends/family have said they're actually excited to get "dressed up." If they don't want to rent a tux though, we're obviously not going to bar the doors on them haha.

Congrats Chris, try and enjoy the day.  It's a lot of buildup and goes by quick.  Something might go wrong, don't let it bother you.  You'll have pics etc, but take those mental snapshots.

Past that, enjoy the honeymoon and getting away just the two of you.

#1, congrats! Enjoy the day. That shit was a blur when I got married, and I wished that I sat back and enjoyed it more.

Nothing wrong with black tie optional. I always say...if people have to spend money to attend, then that should be taken out of the gift, or it should be the gift.

A lot of people have "no kids" wedding, which I also think is totally in-bounds. I used to be against that, but given some weddings I've seen, I totally get it now.

Congrats! My small piece of advice that someone gave me...During your reception, take five minutes with your bride and sit back and admire everything going on. Like Chris said, mental snapshots. Enjoy your meal, don't rush. If you don't take five to just soak in the event, the reception flies by and you don't even realize what just happened. You'll be pulled in many directions, have to talk to many people. Take five off to the side at some point.

Another piece of advice for the day-of...it's one of the few days in your life where everyone around would be genuinely happy to do any small favor for you.  So don't be shy about taking advantage of that.  Don't do anything yourself that's gonna be a nuisance and take away from your enjoyment of the day, your groomsmen, cousins, friends, etc will all happily do whatever minor task needs doing.  This begins as soon as the rehearsal dinner.

I totally did this. We had an open bar not 5 feet from me and I didn't need to get up for any drinks. I got asked more than I drank tbh.

Did you post some tasteful nudes that flagged and locked your account?

Don’t tell your wife you referred to her uterus as “the minors”
