Week 6 has come and gone, and now it is time we begin to see some separation between the contenders and pretenders. Each week during the season our panel of experts will rank the Top 12 teams in college football. This season our panel includes:  Rob Shields, Mike Lowe, Zack Kiesel, Brian (Pedro Cerrano) McGuire, Chris (Ricker Says) Ricker, Steve Birrer, and Chris Stoner. We are looking forward to another exciting season of college football and race to the College Football Playoff.

We have yet another first in Deified Dozen history after Week 6 of the 2019 College Football season, and that would be three ties in our rankings. Ohio State’s big win over Michigan State moved them up to #4 into a tie with LSU. Surprisingly, that caused Oklahoma to drop two spots to #6 despite winning big on the road (Kansas is still not good, but under Les Miles they aren’t THAT putrid anymore). At the lower portion of our poll Notre Dame and Penn State tied for #9, and Auburn’s loss at Florida dropped them into an 11th place tie with Texas. Speaking of the Gators, the win made them the big riser of the week, up to #7 from #10 last week.

Week 7 will see another huge game for Florida, this time on the road in Baton Rouge to face the Tigers. Another game of great import is the Red River Rivalry in the Cotton Bowl, the Longhorns being by far the biggest test of the season thus far for the Sooners. Other members of our Dozen facing potential challenges are #1 Alabama traveling to Texas A&M, Wisconsin hosting Michigan State, Notre Dame hosting their annual matchup against USC, and Penn State traveling to Iowa (where ranked teams go to die). Yeah, it’s a big week, so clear your Saturday calendar!
