Week 5 has passed, and the halfway point of the 2019 college football season is rapidly approaching. Each week during the season our panel of experts will rank the Top 12 teams in college football. This season our panel includes:  Rob Shields, Mike Lowe, Zack Kiesel, Brian (Pedro Cerrano) McGuire, Chris (Ricker Says) Ricker, Steve Birrer, and Chris Stoner. We are looking forward to another exciting season of college football and race to the College Football Playoff.

Despite the fact there were no actual upsets among our rankings in Week 5, the Deified Dozen saw a major shakeup at the top. First, Clemson’s way too-close-for-comfort win at UNC dropped them from the #1 spot they’ve held since the preseason all the way down to #3. Alabama took over the pole position with a convincing win over Ole Miss, and idle Georgia even leaped over the Tigers to claim the #2 position. In a Deified Dozen first, the Bulldogs actually got more first-place votes than the Tide (4 vs 3) but total votes ended up in ‘Bama’s favor. Oklahoma also jumped ahead of idle LSU to the crucial 4th spot (at least in the Playoff Committee’s poll). The only other movement saw Notre Dame swap spots up to #9 with Florida after the Irish took care of then #18 Virginia, while Florida cruised to an easy victory over FCS Towson.

Week 6 will feature a major cross-division tilt in the SEC, and a Deified Dozen head-to-head, when #7 Auburn heads to The Swamp to face the #10 Gators. Other interesting matchups include #6 Ohio State hosting Michigan State, currently ranked #25 and #23 in the AP and Coaches polls, respectively, and #12 Texas faces West Virginia in Morgantown, always a challenging place for road teams.
