I needed to write something positive so I went to the O's brightest spot.

Hoping he can come back strong in 2014 and not miss a beat. I don't care if he's 3B or SS, as long as he stays on the track of budding superstar who seems to be a good dude. He mentioned fixing some of the mechanics of his stride, which has always been a worry point for me. He runs bow-legged, which can cause knee, hip, and ankle problems in distance runners. I imagine playing 162 games that way amounts to running long distance.

Really minor - he's already 21 and turns 22 in July. He's my brother's age. What am I doing with my life? I should have played baseball. Jeff knows I'm a strong three-true-outcomes whiffle baller.

He is 21 and will turn 22 in early July.  Baseball seasons are based on your age on July 1st.

So both sides are correct, just using different units (baseball age versus actual real-world age).  Last year he played at Age 20 and he is about to play his Age 21 season.  He's also currently 21 years old and is about to turn 22 in July.

Glad you knew that. I was pretty confused.

I think the SS should play about 2 feet to the left of the 3B-man with both of them standing 1 foot outside of 3B to take away foul grounders with redundancy.

The left fielder should play in foul territory backing them up.

The shortstop should play on the 2B-mans shoulders and they should stand on second base (leveraging the base height) to take away line-drives up the middle.  The rightfielder and centerfielder should cluster together on the warning track in Right-center facing the outfield stands and spin towards the infield on the crack of the bat.

The 1B should play on the bag regardless of the situation.

I'm not sure how effective it would be for the other team, but it's what I'd like to see.

If you didn't see Gary's article in February, check it out.

If Machado is back in the O's lineup by 5/1... and he doesn't deal with any further health issues this year.... what are you expecting from him offensively?

It's a small sample size this year (98 plate appearances)... but another walk from Manny yesterday got me to thinking... he has improved. Prior to this year, Manny drew a walk in 4.2% of his plate appearances... so far this year, he's drawn a walk in 8.2% of his plate appearances. This is good to see.

Fox SportsOrioles' Machado considers A-Rod a 'great friend'

Last month, Orioles manager Buck Showalter seemed to allude to the Machado-Rodriguez relationship without specifically mentioning A-Rod, saying, “We all make decisions about who we surround ourselves with.”

Is Rosenthal just trying to stir things up here?

Season OPS up to 738 (above league average).  897 OPS since June 1.

He's showing recently why so many of us (myself included) were buying in hard even after the rough finish to 2013 and the injury.  I'd still be trying every day to sign him to an extension.  If he can keep hitting at a solid level the rest of the way, that'll be a major improvement over what we got from 3B the first couple months.

It's odd to ask, but I can't seem to find out whether Manny speaks Spanish. I know he was raised by his Dominican mother and uncle, and many kids that grow up with a parent or parents that speak another language first and forehand learn it from them, becoming bilingual. I'd bet money that he speaks Spanish, but don't like to assume.

I pretty much go along with the "don't assume anything." Given what you said and that he grew up in Miami with a large Spanish speaking population, I think there's a decent chance, he speaks Spanish based on that. I've never heard him speak Spanish either at all when interacting with others even in a casual setting like on the field.
