He has sucked the last 2 years.  Sucked in '14 too, before exploding again in '15.

If he doesn't change the approach, he will suck again in '18.  Still think the talent is there for him to replicate '15.

His best bet to replicate '15 is to send Keith Mills through his neighbors kids' window for some Adderall.

And 1st half of 2015 his OPS was only 787. He turned 2 and a half months into God knows how much money. He's the offensive Ubaldo Jimenez.

No...he turned a productive '12, a giant '13, and big bounceback '15 into a big deal.

He is a guess hitter who often looks horrible... the trends are definitely concerning, and his failures this year are part of the reason the Os wont be back in the post season this year...

But I still think the ability to rebound in 18 is there.

So what if he rebounds in 2018 though? I always said that I wouldn't be surprised if he has 1 or 2 MVP caliber years during the contract.

That doesn't mean the contract all of a sudden becomes good.

The only reason a 2018 rebound year really means something is because maybe you can convince some foolish team to trade for him.

I'm only mentioning '18, because it's the next immediate thing to measure.

I still have no problem with the contract, and still think he's a decent bet to end the contract having provided +/- equal value to the dollars he's received.

Albeit, with his lack of production here in the first 2 years of the contract, I'm less confident than I was.

He gained many millions with the '15 2nd half. If he puts up .787 for the whole year he might not get half of what he ultimately received in FA

Agree with that.  However on the flip side, if he had a 900 OPS in 2014 instead of 700, then he probably would have gotten $250M+.

He just needs to swing. Most of his K's this year have been looking this year. It's almost like he's afraid to swing the bat.

He should really just try to bunt down the 3B line in every at bat, or at least when there's nobody on base.
